Pretty Fans, Terrible Software

Thermaltake Riing Trio 12 RGB Radiator Fan TT Premium Edition (3-Fan Pack) CL-F072-PL12SW-A 120 mm RGB LED Case Fan
Thermaltake Riing Trio 12 RGB Radiator Fan TT Premium Edition (3-Fan Pack) CL-F072-PL12SW-A 120 mm RGB LED Case Fan

Pros: -Really nice looking. -Sufficiently quiet.

Cons: -Software was designed by a C+ average high school coder. -RGB sync with power supply frequently interrupted. Clicking on the fan controller button in software sometimes corrects. -PC sleep mode makes fan RGB uncontrollable until reboot. -Selling only 3-packs a money-grab against people with 480mm radiators.

Overall Review: The fans themselves seem fine, but the dream system I built deserves better software controlling these.

Horrible software

Pros: -RGB looks nice when it works.

Cons: -Software is unbelievably bad. Design is amateurish, and it is ridiculously non-intuitive. Grammatical errors abound in the software. -I constantly get intrusive pop-up messages from the software that it detects my fan not spinning. Can confirm it is spinning. -RGB breaks occasionally; I have to go into software and re-do sync with fans to correct.

Overall Review: I don't understand how supporting software can be so bad. The RGB is the only value here, and it frequently stops working.

Not safe for Windows 10 upgrade

GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Good price/performance

Cons: Driver issues, instability.

Overall Review: I've had this system board for over a year, and after working out some driver stability issues I had it running Windows 7 for over a year. I attempted to upgrade it to Windows 10, and immediately experienced blue-screen issues every 5 minutes of use. I restored a pristine Windows 10 installation thinking it could have been due to corruption carried over from Windows 7, but this installation blue-screened after an hour of use and then refused to boot. This was after installing all of the Windows 10 drivers provided by Gigabyte (though some blue-screens occurred before too). I reinstalled Windows 7 after repartitioning, throwing the towel in on Windows 10. All went well until I installed the USB 3.0 driver provided by Gigabyte. Blue-screens commenced every couple of minutes until I was able to uninstall the USB 3.0 drivers. Use caution if you want Windows 10 with this board. Windows 7 is not free of instability either.
