Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 69W BX80637E31230V2 Server Processor

Pros: Extensions for encryption and virtualization, only 69W.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is a great chip. It even beats the third generation, the lower power draw and lower price more than makes up for the marginally higher clock speed. The 1220 is a little cheaper, but gives up hyperthreading.

4 out of 5 eggs Great NAS box 03/10/2014

This review is from: LIAN LI PC-V354B Black Aluminum MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case

Pros: Tons of space for drives and passive cooling.

Cons: Power supply over the CPU doesn't give as much space for large heat sinks as one might expect from this case. Removing the lower drive cage requires removing the upper drive cage first.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a custom FreeNAS server. I didn't see many other cases that could accommodate the six drives I wanted to use. This one can support seven, eight if you want to put a bay in the 5.25" slot. Though this is a micro case, it is very wide. The PSU is partially over the CPU, so there isn't too much room for a large CPU. It's a very roomy case with great airflow. It's a well built case, but requires a lot of work to open and set up. Just opening the case requires removing eight screws. Don't count on hotswapping with this one either, getting a drive from the lower bay will require you to take out the upper bay. The other option would be to try to fit a 6-bay into another case, but that would easily cost twice as much as this.
