Good device but will it last?
Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. Relatively advanced system with many great features. Large, good quality mirror.
Cons: Intended for lower level cars. The gripping system is too small for all the mirrors on my cars except the oldest one (1994). The original mirror on this car is so big that it is difficult to add this device in such a way that the camera is fully exposed. When I do that, the rear view mirror feature is useless due to the odd angles. Relatively short battery life and the power input is on top of the device, almost impossible to connect to in the car (with large original mirrors).
Overall Review: Great device for cars with a relatively small rear view mirror. That is really the only concern of mine. Everything else seems to be working well and the unit has a lot of neat features. I have only one car in which I can use this, and that car is old and used only 2-3 days/year. For me this device is of no use, but I still think that it is great for many people. One comment: the protective plastic for the mirror installed during manufacturing does not cover the whole mirror. Poor design! The mirror gets scratched towards the outer edges during shipping.
The system is OK for basic light duty, the technical support is practically non-existent
Pros: Small, basic functionality in place if no expansions are added. Ubuntu will install and run properly, but only with the basic configuration
Cons: BIOS bugs - when pointed out, technical support will not even reply Only one of all the technical support questions was answered, and I had to push hard to get the answer Installing the mSATA drive, prevents the BIOS from showing the internal eMMC drive; however the OS still installs there and cannot boot
Overall Review: Apparently the BIOS cannot handle both the eMMC and mSATA drives properly. The OS installation seems to be installing on the eMMC, but the BIOS boot works only with mSATA (when present). Go figure... With no expansion, the system works OK. It is pretty slow but fine for simple tasks. I just wish that it would have a larger temperature range. I am using it as a temporary storage and relay in my barn for surveillance cameras. It is also monitoring my environmental chamber. I need to keep it heated in the winter time.
A large cell phone with no instructions
Pros: This is a very small device that can provide access to Internet and a local home network at a very reasonable cost.
Cons: There is NO manual! The manufacturer assumes that whoever buys this knows Android. I do not own a smartphone and have no plans to buy one. Without a manual explaining what the icons mean, how to set up the device and where to find the menus, this device is completely useless! Yes, I can find and solve a lot of the issues, but I am a software and hardware engineer with over 40 years of experience. Without a manual, this product can be oly used by owners af Android based smartphones. Very bad!
Overall Review: I would recommend this product only if they get a manual, even if it is only downloadable online. ANYTHING!
Pretty but useless
Pros: Nice large labels, well lit up, easy to adjust color to the environment as needed.
Cons: Multiple keys did not work right out of the box, including the 'enter' key. Extremely poor quality control.
Overall Review: I did not even bother trying to exchange the product. With such bad quality control, it is not even worth the hassle to return the item and get a new one with similar problems. I bought a few Logitech keyboards and had no issues. Too bad that those do not have lit up keys... I found this keyboard in a scrap drawer after more than one year and decided to write this review. Maybe I can use it as a Christmas tree ornament.
Still do not know if these work
Pros: Shipped quickly, did get responses when I complained about the Trojan in the software; however, useless.
Cons: Every type of anti-virus software is detecting a Trojan inside their software packages. Have been unable to find alternate software so far. Still unused after 18 months.
Overall Review: I have been provided multiple versions of their software and every single one contains a Trojan. The ELM327 is an electronic component made by a reliable company, so there must be a dependable piece of software somewhere. I have seen reviews mentioning Android, but I do need it for either Windows or Linux. I will keep looking, or simply buy a different brand.
USB 3.0 definitely not functional
Pros: Large data capacity (64GB)
Cons: I have tried this drive in many different USB3.0 environments and the highest transfer I can get is just under 2.0MB/second. I have used a Corsair 64GB USB3.0 drive for over a year and it works great! Bought this drive to add storage capacity with the same transfer speed and it is a MAJOR disappointment. I am just about to buy another Corsair GT 64GB/USB3.0 drive and dump this one. USB2.0 is way too slow for a 64GB drive!
Everything is great with one minor detail
It would be nice to have a simple manual. I am an engineer, so I know how a Stirling engine is supposed to work. Many other people do not know that. The product is well built and the shipment was very fast. The price is very reasonable.
Used or returned item received
The main box was re-sealed with new tape.Inside the box the individual parts were taped down with a second layer of tape. It is very obvious that the merchandise (that was sold as new!) had been either used by the seller or returned by another customer. I believe that it is illegal in this country to re-sell previously sold items as new. No more Newegg Marketplace for me - ever! By the way, the instruction manual was missing as well. I'll keep this as a reminder to stay away from the Newegg Marketplace, plus it is not worth the hassle of returning, etc.
Great!
Relatively quick shipping from Asia (faster than most). Well packaged and no issues whatsoever!
