Verbatim 55259 Black PLA Filament
  • Verified Owner

5 out of 5 eggs Best PLA I have used 10/03/2016

This review is from: Verbatim 55259 Black PLA Filament

Pros: This is the best PLA filament I have used, to date. It truly is "fire and forget". I print with a Lulzbot Mini and a Taz 6 and I have yet to have a failed print with this stuff. The layer adhesion is very good and the consistency is what you would expect from a Verbatim product. I haven't had any breaks due to brittleness but then, I always use my printers in a cool and dry environment. I also vacuum seal my filament reels with desiccant after every print.

Cons: Non that I can think of. This stuff is great.

SAMSUNG S27B750V High Gloss Black 27
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: The picture was amazingly sharp. The colors were not as vivid as I have seen on other monitors and so I had to toy with my GPU's color settings for about 45 minutes to get it looking good. The sleek design is nice and even though the internal speakers are a little weak (most monitor speakers are), I found it nice that a monitor that was this slim had speakers. It is also very efficient. The power supply is rated at 56 watts which means it probably draws much less than that. Because of that, it barely gets warm if at all. Decent response time.

Cons: Just after the warranty was up, the control board inside died. I opened up the monitor to find an 8-pin SMD IC (I thinks it's a voltage regulator) had burned. It burned so much that I can't even read the part number on it to even try to replace it. I have looked online to see if I can try to buy a replacement control board but to no avail. So, this either doesn't happen too often or Samsung does not wholesale control boards. Either way, I am out an expensive monitor. The only other con I have for this is the price. For the performance this monitor gives, you are paying for the sleek design, and nothing more. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this monitor.

Other Thoughts: Expensive, died after the warranty was up, nice design, decent picture... the choice is yours.

MSI GeForce GTX 680 DirectX 11 N680GTX TF 2GD5/OC 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: This card can handle anything! Most games, I can run at high, if not highest, settings and it doesn't even bat an eyebrow. Rift, at 6X AF and supersampling AA, I can hit 70FPS. This card, in short, is beast. I love it. Quiet and decent temps make this a very fine upgrade. Comes with MSI Afterburn, which I am using. Core voltage +.05V and clock speed +100 MHz and this thing is still rock solid.

Cons: Price and size. It is a little large, but on par with the older 9800 gtx

Other Thoughts: This is a great card. It is a very expensive upgrade. You can throw max settings on most games at it and it can handle it easily, but for the price, the 670 and and other less expensive cards perform and near the same levels. If you have the cash, don't think twice about getting it. If you are on a budget, the lower end performance cards will still fit the bill.
