WD My Book Live Duo 4TB Personal Cloud Storage
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

5 out of 5 eggs Great storage / software for the price 01/11/2014

This review is from: WD My Book Live Duo 4TB Personal Cloud Storage

Pros: Easy cloud access, TONS of affordable storage, DLNA integration

Cons: Some software is tricky to find
Even though the product is the Duo, you have to go to the single (MyCloud) product support page to get the "WD My Cloud Desktop for Windows" - once installed, works great from anywhere (drag drop from windows 8.1) Limited only by the access network (cable/dsl/etc)

Other Thoughts: Same as the My Cloud Desktop, the backup software is not intuitively found, but once installed, is easy to follow.

3 out of 5 eggs Good value - missing parts 12/26/2013

This review is from: Samsung 50" 1080p Smart TV With Web Browzer - UN50F5500

Pros: Good value - good features

Cons: Received without a BN96-26652A (Samsung IR Blaster) - supposed to ship with each unit per Samsung (equivalent to not receiving a remote control with a unit) - annoying as this prevents the tv from controlling a STB

Acer Desktop PC Aspire AM5800-U5801A Core 2 Quad Q8300 (2.50 GHz) 6 GB DDR3 640 GB HDD ATI Radeon HD 4650 Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

  • neweggOwned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Cheap, powerful system

Cons: DOA. Acer's support is truly non-existent.
The case is not readily opened by any stretch of the imagination (probably voids some warranty.
I did find that having a power cable connected to the SATA HD seems to help for some reason. Acer assemply seems shoddy at best

Other Thoughts: For the price, you get what you pay for - though I would much rather have gone with the Dell Vostro 420 for the same (or even less) money (if you align Dell's sales just right) At least that's a system with GREAT documentation, a case that opens, and from a company I trust. (Only went with the Acer due to organization mandate for this project)
