BUFFALO AirStation HighPower N300 Gigabit DD-WRT Wireless Router - WZR-300HP
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Best Firmware I have ever seen in a router, ever feature you could ever want. Extremely Reliable Router. I have heavy traffic, a lab with 10 IP security cameras, and about 10 wireless laptops throughout. No problems. This was my first Buffalo product, and I noticed they have 24/7 tech support, and their are based out of TX, so looks like an American company. Looks like they make good products, I am an electrical engineer myself, and it seems they did a good engineering job on this product. I will buy Buffalo again.

Cons: Their is no way to test forwarded ports locally, something with the default NAT translation. If you forward a port, for example to a local webserver on a PC, and then type in your browser your public IP, it will not take you there. You must actually try to access from a completely different public IP, on other linksys firmware you can do this no problem, but not on this firmware. It's not a deal-breaker or anything, but something to know... because at first I though the port forwarding was not working. It does work, but you can't bounce through your own router as some routers will let you do.

Other Thoughts: I bought this device based purely on ratings, and goggling reviews from other owners, and I'm glad I did.... after 3 bad belkin routers in a row, not to mention a few other flaky brands, I decided it was not worth saving 20 bucks if your router is flaky, I want reliability! And this router delivers, it's very reliable and feature rich, a rock solid router.

1 out of 5 eggs MAJOR PROBLEMS 11/08/2012

This review is from: BELKIN E9K7500 Wireless N750 Dual Band N+ Router

Pros: none really, product does not work.

Cons: Bought the router at a local store. The router constantly has problems when using WPA/WPA2 and trying to transfer large files, encryption will stop working, you lose connection etc, this happens every 15min or so. No encryption seems to work a little better, but same issues. If you ping the router over the wireless, sitting right next to the router, example ping " /nn 1000" it will lose 7 to 10 pings every time, sometimes more. The wireless is very unstable and erratic, I did some google searching after buying this router and now wish I had done that before, may people complaining of the exact same problems.

Other Thoughts: This is the 2nd time in a row I was burned by a bad Belkin router product. Crossing them off my list forever now.
