PLANTRONICS .Audio 655 DSP USB Connector Circumaural Stereo Headset
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs Great headset for the price 07/08/2013

This review is from: PLANTRONICS .Audio 655 DSP USB Connector Circumaural Stereo Headset

Pros: -Good range of sound
-Deep bass
-Mic works great, no complaints from my friends on Skype
-Volume control on ear-piece
-Mic boom is flexible, can be adjusted to stay in any position. Easily stowed when not speaking.

Cons: -Cheap USB plugin/cable. Mine ripped when I accidentally tripped over the cable while getting up from my desk. The plugin is also pretty bulky.
-Deep bass will cause a little "squeaky" noise. Not very noticable unless you listen for it, but still something to be aware of
-Ear-pieces get uncomfortable after ~2 hours of consecutive use

Other Thoughts: I'd say you get more than what you pay for. The mic quality is great (Plantronics makes headsets for Air Traffic Control use, so they know what they're doing). I'll probably be upgrading to a new headset shortly however, seeing as this one has broken.

Pros: Great LED screen. Capable of playing most modern games on a moderate graphics setting, really good for a low-level ATi card, beats the basic intel chip by miles. Keyboard is average-good, numpad is really nice to have for excel/numbers crunching. Case is sturdy, textured top was a pleasant surprise. HDMI port allows for 2nd monitor or television. 320Gb more than enough for school documents + games and music. Webcam/mic is average. SD card slot great for photography! Entire notebook surprisingly lightweight for the amount of computing power it provides. Thin design easily slides into narrow backpack pockets/bookbags. REALLY quiet, have yet to actually hear the thing make much noise at all, even with the fan running.

Cons: Glossy border around screen, easily smudged and looks pretty nasty in direct sunlight. Keys leave smudge imprint on glossy screen, only noticeable in direct sunlight or with the monitor off. Battery life is okay, about 2.5-3 hours on standard power drain. Can probably squeeze it out to 3.5 if you tweak the settings.

Other Thoughts: One of the best notebooks for the price. Previous laptop was an Alienware, this thing actually outperforms it and at a 3rd of the cost. Really great notebook for college students looking for gaming/productivity notebook that performs well on newer games.
