This review is from: NETGEAR R6220-100NAS AC1200 Smart Wi-Fi Dual Band Router with External Antennas
Pros: Feature rich - USB 2.0 - VPN gateway - 802.11/ac
I was excited with the prospect of having a budget NAS by attaching my external HDD to the USB port.
Cons: After 15 minutes, it died. . . more precisely, as I was editing the network settings, via my local computer, my browser suddenly gave the dread "Connection Timed Out."
Nothing could revive it. . . swapped cables . . . power cycling . . . reset . . . change of computers.
"Connection Timed OUT!!!!!"
Other Thoughts: Ironically, this was a gift from a friend, and it's out of warranty. So I am chagrined at the prospect of informing him.
Too bad Netgear doesn't have a trade in program, so their customers can get a discount on replacement units, even when out of warranty. (hint, hint)
They could examine the returns for cause of failure and perhaps prevent future occurrences.
. . .
Pros: Will be replaced ASAP.
Cons: Mfg omitted important items like drivers, power adapter whip, and instructions, in addition to not working.
Other Thoughts: When a replacement arrives, perhaps then I can evaluate the card's performance.
(Translation of title: Quality Control - Not Good. Nonfunctional hardware.)
This review is from: Acer Iconia B1-750-16EP 7-Inch Titanic Black Tablet
Pros: At first, I was pleased that I could enjoy eBooks, watch videos, play music, etc.
Cons: The major problem is the ephemeral battery life... not that it discharges fast... but it DIES... I've sent it back (under warranty), but I suspect that the new battery will also die in a few months... out of warranty, no less.
Tablets need to be designed so the user can swap in new and inexpensive battery packs.
Other Thoughts: I would not recommend any tablet that the user cannot easily replace the battery pack.READ FULL REVIEW
