I'll Never Use On-board Again!

ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Audio Card
ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Audio Card

Pros: I thought my on-board audio sounded quite good with my decent sound system. Never again will I use on-board audio. This sound card improves the quality of songs drastically. Bass is tighter, punchier, and the songs themselves have better mid's, and high's. I can't begin to explain how much better the bass response is. Using on-board the bass was sloppy, but now it's amazing!

Cons: The only one I've found is when I switch songs in iTunes (while playing one already) there is a catch from the last sound of the last song moving to the next. It's hard to explain, but a little annoying. Nothing a driver update can't fix.

Overall Review: For anyone wondering: I'm using Windows 8.1, and to install this card I installed the card itself, then installed the downloaded drivers from ASUS' website. After this there was no sound. I then disabled the other audio sources on my computer, and sound came through perfect. I haven't tried plugging my headphones into the front panel to see if it recognizes the source, or to see what the quality is like. I've also heard some people having bad luck, and the card dying in a relatively short period of time. Let's hope this doesn't happen to me.

Aesthetically Pleasing!

NZXT CB-LED20-BU Sleeved LED Kit - Blue, 2 m
NZXT CB-LED20-BU Sleeved LED Kit - Blue, 2 m

Pros: Braided cable, brightness levels, brightness of the LED's, length of cable,

Cons: None

Overall Review: I have this LED kit installed in my Define R4 using the auxiliary expansion slot. Makes using the switches, and the overall look of the LED's in my case great. This is a great accent to highlight the components in your case.

Different, but similar

Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Full Version)
Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Full Version)

Pros: It's a fast OS, a bit quicker than Windows 7. Boot up times on an SSD are 10-15 seconds.

Cons: None. If you don't like change, it may take awhile to get used to. The biggest change is the lack of a start button. I use Classic Shell for a replacement and it works great.

Overall Review: I use this OS for both a touch screen device and my desktop. For both devices I prefer to use the Windows 7 because of it's familiarity and ability to multitask. You can avoid the metro ui and use this just like Windows 7.

Good Drive!

WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Pros: Works well, no problems. Highly recommend.

Cons: None

Good Cooler!

Thermaltake WATER2.0 Pro Closed-Loop All In One Liquid CPU Cooler Dual 120mm PWM Fans 120x49mm Radiator CLW0216
Thermaltake WATER2.0 Pro Closed-Loop All In One Liquid CPU Cooler Dual 120mm PWM Fans 120x49mm Radiator CLW0216

Pros: Keeps my FX 8350 quite cool. When running BF3 I reach low 50's for my temps. Also I love the look of this in my case, which has a window. The thick radiator looks amazing and the fans go well with my Fractal case.

Cons: None

Overall Review: My idle temps are a little higher than I'd like. They are at about 34, but load temps are great at low to mid 50's.

Great quality!

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB 950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB 950 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Everything about this motherboard is great. You could make the case for a 990fx chipset versus the 970 on this mobo, but there is no difference in gaming between the two. Highly recommend this motherboard.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I love the 4-pin fan headers. This was one reason why I chose this board. I'd like to have a fan header on the bottom for a bottom intake, but that's just me. I'm running an 8350 without a problem. If anyone thinks this board can't handle it, don't believe it.
