not perfect, but close
Pros: Does not require a super computer to run. If you are replacing your home PC, the old computer will likely be more then enough for this card. I first started using this card about 3 or 4 years ago and the computer I used then was not cuttening edge. The picture quality is good.
Cons: Its old. It is analog only. It has RCA inputs on the back but those are not supported in windows media center. It does not support widescreen. It does not support digital audio. The initial install was a pain becouse of the video codec. I have noticed the card's picture quality drop off rather quickly when the DBI of the signal is not very high.
Overall Review: I 1st started using this card for my DIY DVR with a third party program on XP Pro. Getting the video drivers codex to work was a pain. That pain was experianced again when I formated the machine and upgraded to media center 2005. I never enjoyed using the DVR box like a cable box, it seemed slugish. I would normaly watch tv normaly and only use the DVR to play back recorded video. I now use two of these cards in the same box and have no porblems recording two shows while watching a third via a Media Center extender. Installing the second card took about 3 minutes.
Had potential
Pros: This low profile card is a great way to update an aging PC with the option of HDMI.
Cons: While the card was able to deliver both video and audio over HDMI, attempting to play a 3D game over HDMI it will crash the system consistently. The only option is a hard reset.
Overall Review: Completely unusable as a gaming graphics card. Other wise fine.
Complete trash
Pros: It is an internal PCI card, not PCI express and not an external USB dongle.
Cons: I installed this card as a second tuner in my MCE'05 box. With this cards drivers installed the 1st card stopped working. Viewing live TV through the PCTV card was slow choppy and unwatchable. It only discovered 10 of my 70+ cable channels. The soft where it wants to install is a bundle of mostly useless garbage. I had to install it twice. The first time the installation was flawed and caused media center to crash every 2 seconds.
Overall Review: I never did hook the card up to an HD antenna. So I cannot comment on how well it works for off air HD. Expectations are low
