This review is from: Supermicro MBD-X11SSM-F-O Server Motherboard Configurator
Pros: Eight SATA3 ports and four PCIexpress expansion slots. Socket 1151 Skylake platform that gives you
lots of choices for FreeNAS compatible CPUs. I chose a Pentium G4400 and the price was very reasonable.
Cons: I'm never happy with how newegg ships my purchases, the packing around electronic items should
be more robust. The only way I can describe it, is spartan :-(
Other Thoughts: It is so nice to finally have enough ports
for all of my HDD in my storage server without the need for an HBA expansion card.
I highly recommend this board for FreeNAS
Pros: I used this forward breakout cable to hook four SATA hard disks
to a PCIe raid card in my home NAS server. Longer length allowed
me to hide wires behind the motherboard for maximum air circulation.
Other Thoughts: The SATA ends do not have clips to keep them from coming loose
from the hard disks, but this is not a concern for a server that never
gets moved around or worked on much.
Wires are not stiff and can be snaked back behind motherboard with ease.
This review is from: ASUS Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive
Pros: Reads all my optical disks without fail!
Other Thoughts: OEM model, no SATA cable, no software, no pretty box, no manual.READ FULL REVIEW
