Never had a cpu this long stay up to date

Intel Core i7-920 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor - BX80601920
Intel Core i7-920 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor - BX80601920

Pros: First of all I bought this 5 years ago as other reviewers have done and I am amazes at how well it performs. When I built my pc in 2009 with 12gbs of ram I was using it for gaming and work (photoshop) - Now that 2009 build using this CPU is my fulltime work computer that renders 2-5gb photoshop files for large and grand format printing and it still feels like it runs circles around my clients using newer computers or the latest macs. I have NEVER owned a processor that didn't make me feel like it belonged in a museum after 2 years. This thing does not feel one bit dated. If there were more current motherboards for this chip I wouldn't hesitate to reuse it. Intel really built a solid performer with this one. Unlike other reviewers I have enjoyed this chip from day 1 without overclocking it. It's stock speeds have treated me well and have never seemed to require more. I do still play some games on this pc, but most loss in frames per second would be a video card issue as this chip can still handle any modern game with ease. Now I need to go find a way to keep using this chip after I replace this computer!

Cons: By todays standard the lga 1366 is no longer easily obtainable.

Overall Review: Depending on your needs there is no reason to upgrade from this chip if you still own it. If gaming is your thing and you plan on upgrading components including your video card I suggest picking out the video card first and seeing how well your old system performs before upgrading to a new mobo/CPU. If you're not on a budget go buy another I7 as they have proven their selves. I have given out nothing but compliments on this chip and being a computer owner of both AMD and intel for years It's hard to think about ever trying another AMD chip after getting used to this quality and longevity. Even if AMD does have a chip considered just as good intel has really earned my loyality as long as these chips stay this good.

Had two, both died

Five Channel Cabinet Cooling System
Five Channel Cabinet Cooling System

Pros: Versatile - can use for many projects computer related or not. Easy to install. Front bezels that cover the fans can be spray painted to match what you install them in to help hide them if black doesn't work for you.

Cons: *did not purchase from newegg* I purchased this from a local retail store a couple years ago for my custom built cabinets above my desk that I use to house multiple computers. I wanted a nice large fan control system that I could mount inside the cabinets so that the front doors could be closed without the pc's over heating. Well the first controller (the part that all the fans plug in to) just died after 2 weeks. Luckily it was within the return policy for the store and I got a brand new box and had to reinstall all of the fans. This time it lasted 2 months before dieing again. Same problem, the control module seems to go out and not power the fans. I gave up and ripped the connectors off of the fans and plugged them directly into a molex connector. I cannot control the speed now, but at least if the pc is on the fans come on. Obviously I could use any fan to do this, but at least these came with nice looking bezels that could be painted to match your system. I just want to mention I have ready literally thousands of reviews on newegg about various products over the years and I am always astounded by the amount of "DOA" or "broke after a week" reviews I see on products I have never had a problem with. I have been building PC's for 15+ years and have only personally had one DOA part in the hundred + builds. I have actually not really received DOA parts of any kind with probably a very few exceptions I cannot recal. This is the first computer related product in my life that I have had such a problem with. The worst part is I paid double what newegg is asking so I thought I was buying a quality product. The fans still work, the controller is garbage.

Overall Review: Where I purchased these they sold the main set with the fan controller then a second product came with just another pair of fans with fan covers. If you like the look of these fans and what the plastic bezels they come with just buy the fans by themselves and rig up your own controller. Once you cut off the connector at the end of the wire it is your normal black/red wire configuration that you can wire in to any fan connector for the power supply or other fan controller.

Still great

Cooler Master COSMOS 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP Black/ Silver Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Cooler Master COSMOS 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP Black/ Silver Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I'm not really sure why I am leaving this review as the case is no longer available, but I figured I would leave my input anyway. I bought this case in 2009! 5 years ago... I use it for my work PC and even to this day I still get comments from clients amazed at it's size and looks. When this thing is all closed up you cannot even tell that the computer is on it's so quiet. I noticed a reviewer below mentioning a few things such as the front panel not latching and the front ports prone to failure. He never said his failed and I would like to point out that after 5 years of moving this case from work to home and back to work and even to new buildings nothing has ever went wrong with it. I was concerned at first about the metal bars used for feet and handles as I thought they were slightly loose, but even after all this time they stay point and perform great. All of my front ports work great and the front panel latches closed via the magnet very well. The previous reviewer might want to make sure his case is level. I was in the process of looking for a new case for a new high end pc build to replace my 5 year old pc still sporting an old school unavailble i7 processor and I cannot find a case like this one. I was hoping cooler master had a new and improved version but this is still a unique case and I think I might still use it for my new build.

Cons: To me this isn't a con and anyone reading descriptions will know better, but this case is quite heavy even empty. I didn't bother to go back and look at it's weight, but with a pc parts in it the tower has quite a bit of weight for being aluminum. To me that just shows it's craftsmanship :)

Overall Review: If you are still reading this review and you can find one of these cases used don't hesitate to pick one up. They seem to hold up very well to age and abuse so you can't go wrong.
