SYBA SI-PEX40071 8 Internal SATA III Ports PCI-Express Card, PCI-e x2 Slot, Specification V2.0 Plus Low Profile Bracket
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: I have four of these functioning in three different machines. handling different sizes from 7TB, 28TB, 28TB of storage in software RAID-5. Best cards to accomplish my needs. Speeds are as to be expected, when will we ever hit theoretical controller speeds (never). Works with AMD APU boards and SuperMicro Server Boards. I will continue to build out my storage with these cards. I usually have a heart attack when they go out of stock but will soon realize that NewEgg will always order more to restock there warehouse.

Positive for both NewEgg and Syba

Cons: My only problem was that I had lost the driver CD and the weblink on Syba's website was broken so I had to order another card so I can get the disc to install the driver to multiply the ports. I can not ding my review cause of my clumsiness and not being able to find the driver CD

Other Thoughts: Specically NewEgg, please keep this on your shelves.

1 out of 5 eggs Not the greatest but cheap to be easiest 02/17/2014

This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40016 PCI Express SATA II (3.0Gb/s) RAID Controller Card

Pros: Cheap and easy

Cons: Well one of the three cards started beeping, but Syba doesn't have any information on beep codes. However, they state only 2 to 4 drives to be attached, why have a fifth port? Very MISLEADING. As my 14tb array is still functioning with all five ports used I think I will just let it be.

Other Thoughts: if the fifth SATA port can't be used then don't add the port. Very misleading company.

Pros: I can now have 15 drives in my chassis

Cons: Having to bend back the guides in the chassis but thats not a fault of newegg or the manufacturer
