HP ZR2440w (XW477A8#ABA) Black and Brushed Aluminum 24
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Easy to assemble and stand works well. So far performance as been great for both general computing and for games (tested primarily with BF3). Very sharp image and very good colors. Price to quality ratio seems to be in a sweet spot. Excellent all around performance and no dead pixels.

Cons: Some slight back light bleeding near corners at high brightness with dark backgrounds. Minor and I usually only notice it while booting up on a black screen.

Other Thoughts: This replaced a HP LP 2065 purchased in 2006 that was still performing perfectly, but I was desiring a 16x9 or 16x10 at home. I looked hard at other brands (primarily at Samsung and Asus), and nothing struck me as the ideal monitor without spending quite a bit more money. When I revisited HP, this model jumped out and I am glad I went for it. It seems to have all of the quality of the earlier model and for the performance has been excellent so far.

Linksys WUSB54G Wireless-G Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 1.1/2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Simple setup - running in under 2min
Consistent signal reception
No dropped connections so far

Cons: Flawless operation so far; no flaws to report.

As others have reported, the Linksys wireless application may be a flaw. Don't bother with it.

Other Thoughts: I followed the advice of earlier reviews of not using the Linksys wireless software. I just attached the device and let Windows XP find the driver on the CD.

I have had excellent luck with Linksys products, and I wonder if others problems are related to different software or hardware issues. As previously noted these kinds of devices depend on USB power, so diffrent systems may produce different results.

MASSCOOL 9T370B1M3 70mm Ball CPU Cooler

5 out of 5 eggs Worth the small cost 01/19/2007

This review is from: MASSCOOL 9T370B1M3 70mm Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Nice design, perfect fit with the standard mount, install took a few minutes. If anything this fan is quieter than the standard fan. Defiantly has improved CPU cooling enough to warrant the cost.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: My 3.2 HT Northwood runs a tad warm all of the time (as these are prone to). When the ambient room temp gets to high the chip really had a hard time staying cool with the standard fan (even with the case open). I am seeing a solid 5C or better drop in temp under load with this sink/fan, and I also noticed that the temps come down much quicker with this unit when the load comes off the cpu. So far my max temp under load has been 45c.
