GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

5 out of 5 eggs Great Motherboard 04/20/2009

This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great layout, plenty of SATA and USB ports. Came with the latest BIOS installed. Worked out of the box without need for tweaking any settings. BIOS allows for precise tweaking of individual settings for overclocking.

Cons: No RAID, no crossfire/SLi, but I knew this before buying the board, so not really a con for myself.

Other Thoughts: My old P35 board died and I wanted a cheap but solid replacement. This board has gone above and beyond what I wanted. Have only mildly overclocked, but this board has so far handled it with ease. For anyone who wants a solid socket 775 board with great features and does not need RAID/multi-GPUs then look no further.

Running this board with an e6750 @3.4Ghz, with 6GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066 and a Sapphire HD3870.

Thermaltake Armor+MX VH8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Great airflow, and quite roomy for a "mid" sized case. Had absolutely no issues installing my hardware. Tooless design in this case is one of the best implemented I have ever seen. The HDD cage is great, and the PCI locks actually work. I was also able to route my wires through the top bay and back behind the drive bays using a Modular PSU. One of the easiest cases I've ever worked with.

Cons: Side fan can be a little loud. Figured that might be the case and installed a fan controller. If you're sensitive about sound, do yourself a favor and pick one up.

Other Thoughts: The case arrived ahead of schedule and was in perfect condition. I am very impressed with the build quality of this case. Thermaltake has outdone themselves. Once again, Newegg's service is second to none.

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400

Pros: Stable, very overclockable, and very cheap!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Added this to my existing 4GB kit of the same RAM. Definitely a nice boost while running a 64 bit OS. You can't beat the performance you get for such a cheap price. Once again, Newegg's service is second to none!
