Pros: Gives a system a whole new look. It gurgled a little on start but from then on was silent. I found it easy to install but even with the instructions right in front of me I neglected to put on the bottom lock ring. Even though I didn't use the ring it still was firmly in place and I'm not about to move it with the low temps I'm getting on the processor.
Cons: None so far!
Other Thoughts: Make sure you run this product on FULL fan mode or the LED rings act like old neon signs, winking on & off!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: LIVA 32GB 2GB DDR3L RAM installed 32GB eMMC Storage
Pros: This is an update review on this little guy... I previously only gave it 2 Eggs due to it's inability to successfully get Ubuntu Live running on it. I finally got Live running on it sans the wireless card since the driver wouldn't install properly... Never could get ANY video sources, DVD nor Online to work but after configuring another system with the same version of Ubuntu and experiencing the same issues I decided that the Liva box wasn't the problem, but either Ubuntu's or my lack of experience with Linux. I acquired a copy of Win8.1 and now the little black box is what it should be. It plays anything my wife throws at it and it's quite adept at 1080p video without any hiccups nor blurring.
Cons: It could use more memory, but I can see they're addressing that with another unit. The only thing I could have asked for more of would have been more USB ports, or the ability to add more memory after the fact.
Other Thoughts: Hats off to the ECS tech support who I dinged in my previous review... the contacted me before the review was published and I was unable to retract the statement. With some of their suggestions I tried several things before finally giving up on Ubuntu and relenting to Microsoft. All is well now.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Nice looking board, easy overclocking features... loved the illuminated, isolated sound circuit.. but that's where the fun stopped
Cons: After a night of gaming I turned the system off as I normally do... two days later I attempted to turn the system on... no power, only a blinking light on the onboard power button. I did multiple changes, PS, RAM, Video, unplugged all devices, reconnected and nothing worked. Frustrated I removed the MB, and replaced with my previous MB and everything booted up fine... the Gigabyte MB has failed. I spent an hour waiting on hold and never got to talk with a human, so I sent a tech request into their online tech help... I didn't hear anything for 4 days, and when I did it was like the person responding never even looked at the original tech request where I had listed all my troubleshooting steps. I've purchased another MB from ASRock which is the currently installed board and most likely won't purchase another Gigabyte product if this is the kind of support they give on their products. I'm going to attempt to see if NewEgg will intervene since this board is slightly older than a month... I just didn't feel like waiting for Gigabyte to decide what & when the felt like supporting their product.READ FULL REVIEW
