ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support and UEFI BIOS

Pros: So i bought this motherboard about a month ago. Smoke started coming out from the Ram area. Now, i call ASUS support. The guy tells me WITHOUT looking at the issue that its automatically my fault. What kind of service is this. I haven't even overclocked or touched my bios yet. He says this was done by me without me even after i told him that the RAM was tested on my other PC and it works fine. So now they want me to send them pictures, of the burnt area. He pretty much tells me i'm wasting my time. What does ASUS warranty cover? Out of nowhere this happens while i'm on netflix. And i'm supposed to take the 240 dollar hit just because their products burn after a month of use for absolutley no reason? NEVER buying an Asus product again. Horrible support. Horrible motherboard. If they don't resolve the issue, i'll make sure everyone hears the story.

Cons: White smoke out of the top of the dimm slots. Ram was in since day one no problem. Ram works fine on other PC. Its NOT the ram. Its the motherboard. And just because they feel like it, without taking a look at my motherboard. They say its my fault automatically. Trust me, NEVER buying an ASUS product again. Scam for warranty, Scam for products. going back to EVGA products, and sticking with MSI. Mushkin has a lifetime warranty and if the ram stick were indeed burnt out, they would replace them right away. No questions asked. In this case, your support is the worst i have ever dealt with. No respect, one egg for the motherboard because of its horrible features as well.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy this motherboard. I've encountered a lot of people on forums who have had the same issue.

AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 8-Core 3.6 GHz Socket AM3+ 125W FD8150FRGUBOX Desktop Processor

Pros: Overclocked to 4.5Ghz, with room still left to pass 5.0Ghz with my watercooling. PC mark score, 11,141. The 980X - 10,954. Runs stable, this thing is really amazing if you have a good watercooling rig, or can handle the O.c on air. Running at 1.45V and i can easily reach 5.2 at 1.52V... Oh, one more very interesting thing. I purchased the Mushkin 2133Mhz 16GB combo for this custom PC. Sure, the crosshair V formula says it can only handle 2133. However, on OCT 27th, they released new bios with let it handle 2400MHZ STANDARD. Just by switching it up in the bios. And what does that mean in terms of running the processor at 4.6Ghz at the moment? It means the ram is running at over 2600Mhz, i verified myself through CPU ROG, and bios. The ridgeback heatsink can handle those type of speeds. I'm gonna shoot for 2800Mhz in the long run. You will not be dissapoined!

Cons: None. This is a really good CPU. The real fail is the 2700K. 100Mhz difference than the last 2600K? and an 80 dollar difference?? Come on now...

Other Thoughts: Crosshair V formula has updated their bios. You can range from running your ram at 800Mhz all the way to 2400Mhz just in the bios. Another interesting thing, if you go to the CPU benchmark website, it says this processor got 10,379 being O.c. I easily passed 11 thousand yesterday. I want to break 12,000. And then submit it. Goes to show how much they change things around.

Pros: O.k, i just wanted to make this review for those of you who seem NOT to know the point of bulldozer. One, it's clearly an 8 core processor aimed at the extreme. If you are running a single threaded application, then that's where it seems to "fail". There have been multiple benchmarks and tests done with this CPU that show the more you push it, the better it performs. ALL of you who bought this to run 1600x1050 resolution, i'm sorry? This CPU beats the 980X and 2600K on extreme performance. In almost every category including Crysis 2, and a handful of games. When this CPU was pushed to 1900x1200 with full settings, it really started to either par or outperform the competition. And when it was pushed over that, it left it in the dust. You forget that most applications, including games are GPU limited. However, most games created now and for future reference, will use more than 3 cores. It has been proven that this CPU is ONLY worth it for rendering, and if you push your PC to the extreme.

Cons: Give or take, single threaded apps are a minus, however... You don't buy this CPU for that. You are an enthusiast, you buy it to push it to the limits.

Other Thoughts: Running Crysis 2, and play Final Fantasy XIV, 1900x1200 27Inch LED 3D monitor full settings (every setting) with 6970s and nothing lower than 60FPS at any given time. This CPU obliterates the competition the more you push it. Fully watercooled running at 5.3ghz, 56C. Remember, most apps at the moment are limited. Play counter strike and you will get 60FPS nothing more. No matter what PC you have. That's an example of something being limited. To get all 8 cores into use, you might really need to go hardcore on it. Tests have been done, and it performs better as you make it work more.
