Overall Review: Purchased this monitor looking to upgrade my current 16:9 to a 16:10 for some extra screen real estate. Also wanted a wide color gamut for photographic work (hobby). Read many online reviews and narrowed it down to this and the Dell U2413. Decided on the asus and ordered it from another major online retailer as they had a better price. Awaited the brown truck. I Was very impressed before I even plugged it in. Well packaged and protected. Impressed when taking the monitor out of the box to set it up. Well made and heavy duty plastic. Sturdy stand. Quality product all around...until I plugged the unit in. Now I knew what so many of the reviews complained about. The high pitched buzz coming from the monitor. I felt as if it would burn through my brain, it was that annoying. Plugged stuff into the USB port...got worse! The buzz now was oscillating! I tried every conceivable fix. Different power cord, monitor cables, usb cables, outlets, etc. No change in the buzz. How could it be that the reviewers who raved about the monitor didn't hear it? Its so loud and irritating. Maybe just a bad batch. I decided to order another from Newegg even though the price was higher. Awaited the brown truck. No, can't be!? The same exact noise. Same increase in noise when plugging into the usb hub. Back to Newegg and the other retailer. Two different manufacture dates (both 2014) but the problem has obviously not been fixed by Asus. Shame too. The monitor otherwise is excellent and would be a winner. The picture and colors are stunning. The menu joystick is brilliant. The stand is incredibly solid. If only they could fix the power supply problem. My search continues and I'm on to trying the Dell, but I have never been a big fan of their products. It uses the same panel so hopefully the picture will be as good, but I doubt it will be as solid. I guess I can live with that if it doesn't have the annoying buzzing.
