Free LTE Internet with LTE Hotspot 803S - FreedomPop (Certified Pre-owned)
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: less than 1 day

1 out of 5 eggs No free data plan offered 08/20/2014

This review is from: Free LTE Internet with LTE Hotspot 803S - FreedomPop (Certified Pre-owned)

Pros: It was relatively easy to configure, and seems to have decent LTE performance.

Cons: No free plan was offered. I get 4G coverage, but freedompop forced a 3G/4G plan for $3.99 per month billed 3 months in advance. After an hour waiting for someone from billing, the problem is unresolved, though I now have a ticket.

This service should not advertise as free if it isn't, or if there are exceptions.

Other Thoughts: Freedompop advertises this as a free 500 MB per month unit, but then charges $11.97 for 3 months use, even if free was selected at sign up. I want to try the free service, not pay for the same 500 MB which were promised for free.

1 out of 5 eggs Didn't offer me anything free 08/20/2014

This review is from: Free LTE Internet with LTE Hotspot 803S - FreedomPop (Certified Pre-owned)

Pros: It's a small rebadged Sprint 4G LTE hot spot. Seems nice, powered via micro USB. Connects to internet well enough, speed not fantastic, but not bad for casual use.

Cons: I selected the free 500 MB per month plan, but it forced me into the $3.99 per month (billed quarterly) plan. The $3.99 is 3G/4G, I get 4G to my home, and do not understand why 3G was forced. I was billed $11.97 for my free service. After an hour on the phone no resolution.

Other Thoughts: Took over an hour on the phone to get someone in billing, they were unable to fix it, but have filed a ticket. I do not believe they will resolve this, and am wondering how Newegg will handle a return. The service was advertised as having a free tier, but it isn't available to me with this device.
