HP Scanjet G4050 L1957AR 4800 dpi 96bit USB 2.0 Interface Flatbed Photo Scanner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: For personal photo archiving this unit has performed as expected. It is adequate for what I do at home and I have been very much pleased with the performance. I use a separate editing software, so any work that needs to be done, is done after the image is copied. Great for the price.

Cons: The biggest disappointment of all, is that after upgrading to Mac OS 10.6, Snow Leopard, the dammed thing stopped working. All because HP has not bothered to upgrade the driver for this OS. HP seems to be way behind on several updates of drivers. Now that this unit is of virtually no value to me, perhaps I should give it only one Egg - or no Eggs.

Other Thoughts: My old MicroTech scanner's software seemed to be more user friendly.

This review is from: IGG SOFTWARE iBank

Pros: Once learned, the checkbook does pretty much the same that you see with Money and Quicken. As a new iMac user and having been a user of the PC versions of Money and Quicken for years, I found it a bit cumbersome working with the iBank checkbook but once use to it, it does the task required of it.

Cons: The box states "...intuitive...." I think that this word is thrown around so much anymore that it has become trite. I am not a hotshot fired up computer nerd by no means. I have however, been using PC's in business since 1984 - mostly the usual MS office stuff, plus 15 years with Autodesk CAD products, and some time on Bently's Microstation CAD program.
"Intuitive" is definitely not how I would describe iBank ..... sophisticated? No, not that either. More like not being able to find information about what to do in a given situation, where you might expect it. Even the version # for my product was on the inside of the sealed box when I bought it. So not until I got home, opened the box and installed the program, did I find out that I was not sold the latest version. I could not find a telephone # (on line, via telephone operator, or even on the packaging). I sent an email, which in a lot of these instances is like snail mail when you are waiting to get your stuff goin'. ......

Other Thoughts: I have used only the checkbook feature and will enjoy the benefits that for some time. However, I am still looking for the intuitive approach to setting up a budget - I think I am going to have to rely on the support group for that. I doubt if I will ever use any of the investment features of the program. I might use the on-line banking feature if I can get it set up with my bank.
IGG Software did come through with an immediate response to my email about my purchase of the older version from OFFICE DEPOT, by the way ........ should have bought from Newegg!!
