memory works so far
Pros: plugged in and worked in new PC.
Cons: none so far.
Overall Review: Have not tweaked PC yet in anyway or really stressed it. So for average use for the week I've had it, no issues.
Product is just installed and working in Raid5 with Esata
Pros: Product arrived in good condition and well protected. I first read then followed instructions to the letter, just a minor hiccup and it works. Purchased 4 16TB refurbished drives from newegg as well and they arrived heavily bubble wrapped and all are working. 42TB Raid 5 seen as a single drive by Windows 10...NICE! Will be used as extended family archive of media so there can one place to access for family history.
Cons: Biggest Con is Fedex. Should have come in a 1 time, instead it is spread over 3 deliveries. Big deal? Well the first to come were the drives that had to signed for, which meant I spent the entire day at home. First time estimate was 9am, kept changing till late afternoon it arrived. Hiccup I experienced was my own doing a bit. Choose raid mode, then confirm by pressing button on the rear. Well button on rear was covered by safety tab and by time I figured that out apparently the choice had timed out. So I pressed and held (as instructed) for well over a minute and it did not turn off as instruction indicated. Decided to start over and this time it worked, always a bit worrisome when things don't go as expected. 30MB/sec Transfer rates are much slower than expected. Using Esata to a PCIe SATA card which also has the drive I'm transferring from on it. That may be part of the issue. I will transfer from a drive connected to motherboard and if there is a change I will update this review.
Overall Review: I can as of this moment totally recommend this 4bay raid system. Just realize transfer rates may be very slow.
Nice Laptop for Linux
Pros: Solidly built, nice screen. I did not buy mine from Newegg, but rather got one for free. It was not booting, so they gave it away. I flashed the bios to latest and it booted again. XP was having issues so I installed sabayon (version of Gentoo linux) and everything worked quit well. Battery even started working again. But it wasn't very fast. Then just this week I got a black friday deal for a 120GB SSD for $55. Popped it in, installed Linux Mint 15 this time and boy does this thing fly. 34 sec to google page in chromium if your fast at the password stage. 8 sec to shut down. That's after adding more programs and tweaking it a bit. So if you want to rejuvenate one of these I HIGHLY recommend getting a SSD drive. Newegg sells a lot of good ones. I also recommend any flavor of linux for this laptop, as I will wager it works a lot better with that OS then windows. Other good things about this laptop is the number of accessories you can get. Extra power that slides into the DVD slot easily $35. Double the memory to 4GB for around $40. Its simple to work on as well.
Cons: Its not the lightest laptop. speakers work, but are a bit tinny. Does not come with a built in camera. As with a lot of laptops you have to be careful not to block the air vents for cooling. Screen is great only head on, not great angle viewing. Which might be a bonus on a airplane.
Overall Review: If you can get this for around $100 and stuff a SSD in it, well its a winner for sure. GO LINUX!
Bought this to use with Nexus 7 FHD
Pros: Light weight, long battery life, good sound, have used 30+feet away direct line of sight and had good connection. Walls give issue. controls easy to work.
Cons: Bought to use with nexus 7 and skype. Issue is with skype not headset. sometimes skype does not go to headset, don't know why. Microphone on skype app is crackly and choppy, also sounds a little weird. But if I use recording app (not skype) microphone works great. Also can't pick up calls on skype with it. Not device's issue, but skype stinks at updating their software. Was hoping not to have to have cell phone anymore. SIGH......
Overall Review: I have a big neck, wish the unit was a bit bigger. But would be a issue then for tiny ppl.
Works Well
Pros: Easily connected via both usb and wireless. Was able to connect with Nexus tablet, laptops, linux laptops and desktops. Have had zero printing issues. Purchased for $50 on sale. small footprint, excellent printing quality.
Cons: Have not had a issue with it yet, so none. It's a B/W laser printer that works, hard to find fault with it at such a low price. Wish toner was cheaper, it's the same price as what I paid to purchase the printer.
Overall Review: Should it fail in anyway, I will simply be able to purchase another for the same price as the toner alone. So I guess that's both a bonus and sad as it makes it another throw away item.
Sounds great to me
Pros: Long cord, comfortable for long periods. Excellent bass. Overall sound clean. Bought them originally as extras for sound booth at my Church as I got these on sale, but decided to keep them as they sound so good. If you can get these on sale I highly recommend them
Cons: They need to be tuned/tweaked to get best sound as the bass comes through stronger. I found that connecting them to my Teac stereo amplifier produced much cleaner sound especially the bass. If you plan to use with ipod or other portable device, even a computer you may not get the best experience as I do not believe they have enough power to run these headphones properly.
Overall Review: keeps your ears warm on cold mornings. Do a search on youtube for opening music of "The Island" movie soundtrack. It is a good example/test to show the difference when headphones are plugged into a amplifier or direct off a laptop for sound quality. These headphones work well with anything, but I think they are designed to be used with soundboards and amplifiers rather then ipods.
