5 out of 5 eggs Solid NAS, Fast 05/30/2013

This review is from: Thecus N5550 Diskless System NAS Server | Enterprise - Tower

Pros: Worked out of the box. I found it easy to use and fast. I have 5 seagate 4TB drives running in raid6. I get 100+MB/s on large file trasfers with the processor only hitting 50% or so.

Cons: Not a big deal, but could have included a second ethernet cable...

Other Thoughts: Mine is in the basement, so noise is a non-issue for me.

Also, if you do use drive >2TB would recommend raid 6 or raid 10 as the larger drives appear to fail more frequently than the smaller sizes for some reason.

I was interested to see the logs showed someone at the factory plugging in drives to test each bay

I had to update the firmware before I could use the drives
