This review is from: Microsoft Office 2010 Professional
Pros: Only good if you have to convert/upgrade Access from previous versions for customers.
Cons: Too pricy! Activation! Access is proprietary!
Other Thoughts: My preference is to use Open Office 3.3 (free or make a donation). While there is no Outlook comp, it offers spreadsheet, presentations, drawings, word processing and other features that get most of what you need. And they read and write the Microsoft format. There is a relational database component as well; and, it is open systems not proprietary like access. Consequently, there is no easy conversion for anything other than the tables.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Built my system in June 2009. I7-920, Gigabyte mobo, 5TB, Blue-Ray DVD Writer, etc. Used for video production. After much research, I selected top of the line 6GB Triple-channel RedLine memory from Mushkin. Cost around $300. System worked like a champ. Fortunately, the memory is covered under a life-time warranty.
Cons: Memory failed last week (15 months) and took several days to figure it out. Very Disappointing, especially as it ws the holiday week-end. Muskin is on it, so we will see how long the next set lasts.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Drobo BeyondRAID 4 Bay Diskless Storage Array Enclosure - DR04DD10
Pros: Drobo is very cool. It does exactly what it is advertised to do and it does it very well. Fast setup, easily upgraded. I installed my Drobo in May '09 with 3-500GB drives and 1-750GB drive. Last week, I upgraded the system with 4-1TB Black Caviar drives. Entire process took less than 12 hours.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: After reading a number of review, especially the ratings of 1 egg, here are my thoughts. This device should be used as a single data store attached to one PC. If you need more space exchange the drives as recommended. This is not a backup system; it is a data protection system. If you need to backup your data, get a redundant storage system, like the Netgear ReadyNAS NV+.READ FULL REVIEW
