Pros: Solid, reliable, runs Windows 7 and Windows 10 perfectly with my Xeon E3-1245 v5, and DDR4-2400 ram.
Cons: One complaint I have, is that I cannot wake this motherboard using my usb keyboard or usb mouse, even though the options are enabled in the bios. Doesn't matter which usb port I use. All other Asrock boards I've had work, but not this one...READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASRock C226M WS Micro ATX Server Motherboard LGA 1150 DDR3 1600/1333
Pros: I really like these boards and have had no problems until recently...
Cons: After the last bios update, (version 2.0) Ubuntu Server 16.04 no longer recognises the onboard I217-LM nic. Logs showed the nic was "unclaimed" and that there was an "nvm checksum invalid" error. After researching and experimenting, I came up with this solution:
Find the "Intel Ethernet Connections Boot Utility, Preboot Images, and EFI Drivers" page and download PREBOOT.EXE. Run to extract files.
Create a bootable usb stick, that boots freedos. I used Rufus. Copy the files BootIMG.FLB and DOS/bootutil.exe to the stick. (Don't copy the directory 'DOS' - just the file inside named bootutil.exe)
Next, boot the server from the stick.
bootutil -wold -all
bootutil -wole -all
The first command turns off WOL (wake on lan), and the second command enables it again. This action will correct/reset the checksum.
Pros: B85 chipset is nice. Supports haswell cpus, which are still very fast. I installed a G1840 in one, and a G3260 in another with 1600 ram. Memtest86 shows very high cpu cache and memory access speeds. Could install up to i7.
Cons: Only 4 usb ports on the back, and has 2 ps/2 ports.
Other Thoughts: The systems I build run 24/7. Biostar has been reliable.READ FULL REVIEW
