ASUS Desktop PC CM6870-US014S Intel Core i7 3770 (3.40 GHz) 32 GB DDR3 1 TB HDD NVIDIA Geforce GTX 650 1GB Windows 8
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Great CPU, lots of ram, decent MoBo, large HDD, lots of ports, good for charging USB devices, as the USB's are always powered

Cons: Weak GPU, cheap PSU, low expansion possibilities, no front fan possible, can't use second x16 (not full speed, like x4/x8) for anything more than single slot

Other Thoughts: Great machine overall, needs some upgrades, but with a top end CPU, and 32 GB RAM, the expensive bits are taken care of. the GTX 650 included is a very low end GPU for gaming, the PSU actually seems to be wrong for the machine, as the CPU "extra" power port is an 8 pin, but the PSU only has a 4 pin for it. The case is very cramped, and only allows for one extra HDD/ODD. (could put a third HDD in the second ODD slot with adapter.) Case has a front fan mount, but the plastic facade does not allow for airflow. The GPU has a physical mount to the case, so no sag, and the PCI's on the back are pretty easy to change, once you break them free of their welds... Machine is very quiet, and performs very well. Currently have already replaced the cheap small PSU with a better one, waiting on a second HDD (First is almost full), a Blu-Ray drive and a GTX 760. The PC is miss listed here as only having one x1, there is a second, but it is blocked by the GPU in the x16 slot. the second "x16" slot is on the bottom of the motherboard, and right next to the bottom of the case, as well as not actually an x16. more like an x4/x8. (Supports x16 cards, but not at full speed.) Does not have WiFi of any sort, but with 6 USB 2.0's and 4 3.0's, a USB wifi dongle is easy. the keyboard is not very good, the keys have a lot of "wobble" if you just slide your fingers across, and the mouse has no mass at all. Also, the un-used external ports on the case (the 3-4 PCI's on the back, the 2 3.5's and the 5.25 on the front) are all covered by port covers (okay, makes sense...) But they are nearly impossible to remove, and can NOT be put back. the welds are VERY strong, and the metal stretches a lot when trying to remove the panels. The front 3.5's and 5.25's are attached by screws into the case, so requires a lot of work to remove/replace/add a new drive to the case.
