workin in old mobo

AMD FX-8370 4.0 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ FD8370FRHKBOX Desktop Processor
AMD FX-8370 4.0 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ FD8370FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

Pros: Its working in my 2011 ASUS M5A99X EVO. 1604 bios does not list this cpu, but it recognizes it and is working fine so far.

Cons: None so far. Working as expected.

Overall Review: I purchased this without checking to see if my bios supported it first. When I realized this it was too late, didnt find any info about this chip working with this older motherboard, but tried it anyways, and it works. watercooled @ 4.4ghz with a very minor volt bump, lots of headroom to go higher, but am taking it slow.

works fine BUT not in asus raid

Crucial MX100 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256MX100SSD1
Crucial MX100 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256MX100SSD1

Pros: they work fine as a single drive.

Cons: windows 7 (even windows 10) does not see this drive when its in a raid. not crucials fault, its Asus

Overall Review: the price of these drives is good, so i decided to pickup 2 and ditch the last of my mechanical drives. plugged them in, formed the raid and windows did not see them. windows 10 did not see them. linux mint saw the raid fine. ive been reading the internet some and i guess this is a known issue with these drives on asus boards in raid mode. my other ssd raid (adata) works fine. I didnt even bother checking for something like this, I would have never expected it. asus sabertooth 990fx r2.

does the job.

CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm
CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Easy to install. Stuck it on an amd 8370. See other thoughts.

Cons: If youre into pretty cable management, dont go an All In One system. The fans, usb, power, and cpu fan wire, all route back to the main block of the system which is the cpu. Go custom watercooling then. I dont care about that anymore, I just want it to fuction well, and this does. If you close up your case and nobody's going to see it, this isnt an issue.

Overall Review: I bought this system because I wanted to separate the cpu/graphics card watercooling loops. I did not want to build a whole separate loop, and this was an easy way to not do it. Experimenting with the corsair software (corsairLINK) I got the best noise results (for myself and my mild overclock) by creating a custom fan profile. I started by increasing both fan speeds until I could just start to hear them, then back off a notch or two. This becomes my low fan speed constant, no matter how low the temp is. For me its about 1200 rpm. So my 'point 1' is 30c (h100i pump temp)/1200 rpm. The intermediate step is very adjustible depending on what youre doing most of the time. Point 2 for me is 45c/1600rpm. For the game i play (dragon age 3) this seems to be a sweet spot, and climbs to about 1500 rpm or so. Point 3 is max fan speed (2500 or so) is going to be about 60c (again, H100i pump temp). This setting is for max temp ( that youre comfortable with). Your fans will be Loud, and if there is reason you'll be ok with it. If there isnt a good reason for this youll know it, and HEAR it, and then investigate it. As im typing and thinking of this review, i have prime95 going and my H100i temp is sitting at 39.2c/1500 rpm with the 8370 @ 4.3 ghz. (very mild oc). You can always use the default modes that come with this, but I have found the custom fan profile to work best for me.

all drivers are available for windows 7

Lenovo Laptop AMD A8-5550M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 8570M 15.6" Windows 8 G505s (59378837)
Lenovo Laptop AMD A8-5550M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 8570M 15.6" Windows 8 G505s (59378837)

Pros: I had my sister purchase one of these for her small business needs (quickbooks mainly). She hated windows 8. Doesnt have the time to figure out something new. I had her purchase an Adata 256gb ssd with it. 3 screws and the bottom cover comes off, with access to ram, hard drive, cpu and the cooling fan (which is going to be nice for cleaning up the dust which eventually sticks to the heatsink). fn key (by the shift/ctrl) + f1 or f2 will get you into the bios. Disable UEFI and enable legacy, legacy boot before you take the win 8 hard drive out, otherwise you cannot boot from anything else. Goto the lenovo driver page and put all the win 7 drivers on a usb stick (use the right usb port, the left ones will not work until you install the amd drivers). Win 7 installs fine off a cdrom, but even basic networking doesnt work until you install the driver. Everthing seemed to be working, no alerts in device manager.

Cons: keyboard felt a bit cramped to me with the numpad off to the right, but i have big fingers.

Overall Review: ill update more if something happens. this machine will be used heavily.

good card

SAPPHIRE FleX Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100352FLEX-2
SAPPHIRE FleX Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100352FLEX-2

Pros: Ive been gaming on a single sapphire 6950 flex in eyefinity (5760x1080) mode. Ive had to turn down settings to get playable frame rates. This card is a definite improvement. Ive turned the eye candy back up on d3, skyrim, boarderlands 2 and the frames are much improved over my 6950. I stuck on a swiftech MCW82-7900 waterblock, with no problems. Going to wait a few weeks before I OC. I was tempted to get a 7970, but I like the ease Flex makes of eyefinity and didnt want to deal with powered adapters.

Cons: none so far.

wow fast...

Corsair Force Series GT 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GBGT-BK
Corsair Force Series GT 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F120GBGT-BK

Pros: its quick. win7 loads in seconds.

Cons: none so far. firmware 1.3.2, I turned power saving modes off right away, they drive me nuts. I knew nothing about the BSOD's and dont want to risk my new install going bad by updating to 1.3.3.

Overall Review: This is my first SSD ever. Ive always put this upgrade aside due to cost, but Ive built a new system recently and decided to bite the bullet. The speed worth it. I have room for win7, and 3-4 games i play the most. The rest can be offloaded to another drive and linked, the OS still will think they are on the C:\ drive. (lookup the mklink command for win7)
