If I'm away from my house and my phone is not connected to a wifi source, will it work through the cell phone system, i.e., the 4G LTE?

Yes, as long as the Ring is connected to your home wifi, you can access it from anywhere on your phone or any phone if you have your ring username and password. I use it all the time from my phone over the AT&T LTE network.

Can you install two (a front and back door) units?

Accepted Answer

Yes. They have other devices as well, like standalone cameras, that you can set up in their app. You can name each of them for easy identification. I've been considering adding one of their cameras and pointing it at our garage door. This is an IoT device so if you plan on getting one let's hope they don't go out of business. I wish I could simply capture the video to a local NAS. I'm kind of a privacy/security nut so I put it on a separate network. Don't get me wrong though, it's a pretty cool device.

I have a cellular I Pad, but no Iphone.  Will it work with a cellular / Wi Fi I pad?

Yes. It should work with any Internet enabled device that can install the Ring app. Ring's website has videos for setting up the device app on iPhone and iPad. You can download and install the app now for free without buying the ring itself if you wish to make sure it is available for your device. Just search for it in your app store.

Does this wired version require battery charging? Or does it even have a battery?

It's wired, there are very specific requirements for using the wired version. Visit Ring's support page for more info on the requirement and instructions for installation. It caught me by surprise, luckily I have an electrician in my family.

What is advanced motion detection?

I'm not sure what makes it advanced vs normal motion detection but i can tell you what it does. You are able to set motion zones so it only detections motion in certain areas of its field of view. This way things like a flag blowing in the wind won't trigger the motion sensor but a person walking up your path will. The motion detection is nice as it alerts you to something happening at your front door even if no one rings the doorbell. It also captures video around that motion detection so you can see what happened later (you received a delivery or someone stole a package from your porch). I find the motion detection to be super useful.

Will this work with the google home assistant?

I do not have a Google home assistant so I don't know. The ring doorbell is the most regretted purchases I have ever made. They claim it works with your current doorbell. It did not work with mine. They say it works with Windows 10. I had a windows 10 phone it would not work with. You can get to it using a desktop or laptop computer using windows 10. You have to pay a monthly fee if you want to record or playback anything. This model also requires power. There is a model that is battery powered which requires it to be removed and taken in to charge. That model is easy to steal. This model is a little more secure.
