Rosewill RCX-Z2-EX 92mm 2 Ball PWM CPU Cooler

Pros: Great fan, super quite even when it gets going. keeps the CPU temps down better than the stock. 4 Pins for automated speed control.

Cons: too big - I couldn't use this fan because it took up 2 RAM slots on my ASUS M2R32-MVP and my MSI K9A Platinum.

Overall Review: I would have given it a 4 if it weren't for the stress you have to put on the clips in order to put this thing on, feels like you are going to crush the CPU and snap off the Plastic Retainers on your Motherboard. I went with a Zalman 9700 and it's worth it for the extra bucks.

Pros: This product is amazing. I am using it on a Q6600 oced to 2.9 GHZ and this baby keeps it at 25C idle and 35Cunder load. Great Cooler

Pros: Very quiet and quite powerful. It's keeping my processor at less than 10 degrees over room temp with modest overclocking.

Cons: Quite large. First time I installed it the heat pipes caught on some of the caps on my motherboard and it didn't seat all the way. I turned it around and now it blocks 2 of my ram slots.

Pros: This is a great cooler. Using with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor. With a dot of arctic silver, my temps are steady at 30C. No problem installing like others who have posted, but this thing is HUGE...

Pros: Keeps my AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core at 19 - 23 C even while playing high end games.

Overall Review: It did take me a little bit to install, but I figured it out. Definitely easier to install on the motherboard out of the case. Would recommend this to anyone.

Cons: Needs a lot of thermal paste to make a good thermal connection. The docs say use 1/2 of the syringe (3g total, I believe) they give you, ~1.5 grams, which will seem like a lot to many people. Use it, whether it is the included paste or a third party's (see previous review) for best results.

Overall Review: One thing I want to add for socket AM2/AM2+ owners is that this unit is hard to remove without tools (both good and bad, I suppose). If you need to remove it (like I had to), use a screwdriver stick into the hole on the retaining clip to press down the tab that is there. Once you press it down with a screwdriver, the retaining clip can be easily moved away from the plastic flange that is it hooking on to (this tab is not part of the hooking loop). If you don't do this, it is difficult/hazardous to try to remove it. My first thought was to use needle-nosed pliers to pull down the retaining loop, but I had too many components around my socket to do so without possibly damaging them if the grips slipped. Once you press that tab down, you can easily move the loop. Rosewill could have illustrated this operation in their documentation more clearly, and with the upcoming AMD CPU release, some owners will need this info.

Pros: looks nice, can be mounted in any orientation (other nearby components permitting) If I'd had room I'm sure it would have worked fine.

Cons: The unit is very wide. The "heat pipes" extend out to one side making it impossible to mount without removing memory from most mother boards. Rotating the unit will result in the contact point not covering the entire processor.

Overall Review: I would not have bought this heatsink but I was constrained by height restrictions and wanted the 4 pin power connection. Shipping return costs and restocking fees make it cost prohibitive to return so I'll save it for a future system.

Pros: It does look good. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. And I had heard good things about Roswill.

Cons: If you have a Chaintech VNF4 (AMD) motherboard, don't even bother with this. First off, it uses the new "4 PIN" CPU fan connector, and conveniently enough there is a small capacitor on each side of the 3 pin connector on the board, so no go there. Second, the fan itself won't fit on the motherboard, again capacitors are to blame, unless you are willing to sacrifice Memory slot 1, which I wasn't. Not got a chance to even run it, so no comment on performance.

Overall Review: Chances are good few people will read this notice before they to order it only to find it doesn't fit, but for those that do read, make sure that your board has at least 1" of clearance to the north/south of the CPU for heat pipe clearance. And if you don't have a 4 pin fan connector, make sure you have room for that 4th pin.
