Pros: Plugged into a USB 3.0 port and Windows 8.1 recognized and installed it within a few seconds. Small, lightweight adapter with good performance on the standard 2.4GHz wi-fi band. Rosewill has established itself as a value for money brand, and this model is among the least expensive Wireless adapters which offer consistent quality. See Other Thoughts below for performance comparison.
Cons: Dual-band version which includes 5.0GHz band only costs about 5 dollars more. 5.0GHz is better for streaming HD video/movies.
Overall Review: Our Windows 7/Windows 8.1 home network uses a Gigabit router TP-Link Archer C9 AC-1900, dual-band Wi-fi with WPA2 security and Netgear powerline adapters to two rooms. Network sharing uses the old Windows Home Networking (40/56-bit encryption) which gives slightly faster throughput than Windows Homegroup. Compared: Rosewill RNX-N300UB 300Mbps wireless USB adapter. If you require performance above and beyond what is shown here you may wish to consider either a powerline adapter with Gigabit ethernet or the Rosewill dual-band wi-fi adapter.
