Rosewill RX251-US 2.5" SATA to SATA & USB Internal Mobile Rack Enclosure

Pros: The dual funtionability is very convenient. Seems well put together and was very easy to install.

Cons: According to the manual it only supports up to 160GB HDs at 1.5GB/s, not the 250GB and 3GB/s that newegg claims.

Overall Review: I'm primarily using mine as an external drive for my laptop, with a seagate 160GB SATA 1.5GB/s drive in it. It works great, transfers are as fast as you would expect with usb. Just happened to notice that the manual and newegg claim different things. Can't check this myself cause this is the biggest HD I have right now, but if ur planning on putting a 250GB HD in, or need/want 3GB/s, you might want to look somewhere else. For my purpose this drive works great, I'm very satisfied.

Pros: What an Excellent product!! I got a HP desktop with similar function, but the HP one only has USB function, and that's way toooooo slow! With this RX251-US, I got an external USB drive and internal SATA drive at the same time! When inserting this enclosure to my pc, I compared the data transfer speed with other USB enclosure through 10GB file transfer. The RX251-US has 2.5 times faster transfer speed than other external USB drives!! I put my Hitachi travelstar 2.5" 200GB in this great product.

Cons: Before inserting this drive to the PC or pulling it out of the PC, I got to turn off my PC first.

Overall Review: I can choose only the external case! What a nice option!

Pros: straight forward design. sata connection all the way through. rugged casing and small form factor.

Cons: my eject button did not work. I decided to take it all completely apart and figured out that it was assembled incorrectly. It was easy to fix. Found out the button/eject mechanism is plastic so go easy on it.

Overall Review: Amber indicator light. Comes with all the proper cables. Works as specified.

Pros: At least on Vista, it's plug and play, no need to turn the machine off to plug in or unplug out of the 3.5" rack. Very usefull as it has also the USB so data from one computer can be easily shared with another machine that has an USB port but not the 3.5" rack. I use it mostly plugged into the rack as a backup device instead of a tape.

Cons: The aluminum case "stand alone" is exclellent, very small and keeps the drive inside cool, but take the top metal cover out of the rack to keep your drive cool. When plugged into the rack for hours, the drive heats up way too much. The rack still fits perfectly into the computer's 3.5" bay after you remove this cover. Suggestion to Rosewill: change the top metal cover on the rack making it a mesh so heat out of the aluminum drive enclosure can escape.

Overall Review: Buy it, enjoy it.

Pros: Easy to install. Can fit in a 5.25 or 3.5 bay. Small hdd case (the actual case, not the bay). If you get the right usb cable (and the port supplies enough power), you don't need any external power. It does come with a dual usb connector though.

Cons: It doesn't come in pretty colors? (I like red)

Overall Review: I bought one of these when I replaced my laptop hdd. It is a great case and bay combo. Sure, it isn't all flashy or anything, but it does the job wonderfully. I liked it so much that I bought another one just for another bay to use in my work computer to swap data back and forth. Also, my D3ll Inspir0n 1420 runs the drive just fine with a single usb cable.

Pros: Very portable. The SATA mounting feature makes transferring stuff much faster, and also adds easy docking to my desktop.

Cons: The circuit board tends to be a bit loose inside the external casing. The metal casing gets pretty hot [probably hard drive's issue], so leaving it in after ejecting for cool down is needed.

Overall Review: My desktop at first didn't like hot plugging the drive for some reason. After rebooting with the drive in the system, hot plugging works fine. The metal case allows better heat dissipation, but that also means it gets pretty hot during operation so careful not to burn yourself

Pros: put it in my case. plugged it in. xp installed it. it works and fits in a 3.5 drive bay.

Cons: the eject button feels a little flimsy but it hasn't given me any trouble yet. i dont eject the mb tray very much anyway

Overall Review: I had a spare ps3 80 gig hard drive so i bought this and put it to use as a backup. its only 5400 rpm but its fine for backing up music and moving them from one computer to another since it also connects via usb. if you try to do the same, make sure you know how to format the hd (you can do it in windows) or it will be a useless led on your case.
