Pros: - Performs well thus far - Expected to have a decent life
Cons: - Need to be very careful about the Market Place sellers
Overall Review: Now that I have both the 2TB and 4TB Samsung 860 EVO drives are ordered I have no complaints thus far and am satisfied with their performance. The drives are listed under the /AM model number denoting American market drive and therefore US based warranty coverage and support. I ordered a 2TB 860 EVO directly, this came without incident. I ordered a 4TB 860 EVO through one of the Market Place sellers. They shipped me first a OEM drive and then an EU drive, both which have negative warranty implications compared to the 5 year US serviceable warranty advertised on the product page. Basically, while a great drive and I would be again, you really need to be careful about what is advertised vs. what is sent to you. 5 egg product. 1-2 egg buying experience here. I think more should be done to protect the would be purchasers on this site (for example, as I now know, the Market Place seller I bought from has a sub 90% product accuracy rating).
Pros: At our company we custom build our workstations we have bought 9 of these 860 EVO drives and approx. 50 of the 850 evo drives and about 6 of the 960 evo M.2 drives spanning over a year back and we have'nt had to replace one yet, also the speed is consistent and fast expecially the M.2 drives
Cons: not being able to purchase more than three at a time, not a samsung issue though
Overall Review: I have been working in IT for approx. 27 years and I would recomend these drives to anyone
Pros: -Great performance. Reads and writes as fast as the SATA3 bus can keep up. -Prices keep coming down for Solid State devices and it's just great overall.
Cons: -One egg off due to the Software: Avoid Samsung's Magician software if you can. Hidden in the EULA is rights to allow them to scan your files of all things; not just to copy and write but for marketing research or otherwise. Very odd. -NVMe PCIe x4 is faster but that's thanks to the superior bus. SATA3 is still fine but it has been officially saturated and is now the slow link in the chain. -Either way the drive is still a very nice storage option for the price. Just avoid the bundled software and try third party alternatives from Acronis (pay) or Clonezilla (free but advanced users only).
Overall Review: -As always bookmark or favorite components and watch for the sales or bundle offerings. -I waited quite a while before the 4.0 TB drive hit the price point I was willing to pay. -The extra capacity and the overall speed, SATA3 aside, is just a fantastic drive overall. -As I mentioned check out Acronis (pay) or Clonezilla (free but advanced users only) for disk cloning if you need to copy an existing drive with an OS installed to this new drive.
Pros: - I purchased a 1TB 860EVO to replace my overtaxed 500GB 840EVO. As with its predecessor, the 860 performs wonderfully. - I used the Data Migration software that I was able to download from Samsung support and it cloned my new drive flawlessly.
Cons: - I have no issues with the SSD itself. However, the process for performing the data migration is not the most intuitive. I ended up calling Samsung support (1-800-Samsung) twice for clarification: 1) use the Data Migration software and NOT Samsung Magician to clone a new drive and 2) it is recommended that all programs be closed, that 3rd party anti-virus programs be disabled temporarily and that the Internet connection be disabled/disconnected during the migration. These were helpful details that were not obvious from other sources of documentation.
Overall Review: I recommend this product and will continue to use Samsung SSDs, should a future purchase be necessary again. I didn't feel that I needed the PRO version as my computing is not that high-end.
Pros: It's fast. Has a longer write endurance spec than similar priced SSDs. 5 year warranty. Works great in a Dell E5530 laptop. You can stop wasting time defragging your drive.
Cons: Samsung Magician software does not show the drive status properly on the Dell laptop. This seems to be a problem with Dell, but I may try installing a later version of the driver software.
Overall Review: The first one is working well. I bought more on the Black Friday promo. I have more devices to upgrade. Notes to those complaining about not being able to register the product on Samsung's website: I contacted Samsung tech support. They said the serial number needed for registering is found on the label on the disk. The serial number on the box is not complete (it's missing a letter at the end). The registration site also needs the "Model Number" but it's not the "Model Number" listed on the drive or box (for mine, MZ-76E500). The "Model Code" is what they actually need, and it is found ONLY on the box (not on the drive). Again, for mine, this was MZ-76E500B/AM. I got an Invalid Model Number error until I tried the Model Code instead. Once I got the right combination, mine was registered. Maybe a bit confusing, and they could be clearer about this. I would not dock an egg or two just because of this.
Pros: Using the Samsung data migration 3.1 software was amazingly simple and painless. Never had a storage drive upgrade go so smoothly. Just installed, pushed the "button", and 15 minutes later, I was done! Very fair price (129) for a quality item
Cons: Nothing
Overall Review: Would fully recommend Would purchase again
Pros: Bought this SSD because Samsung SSDs have really good reviews and the price for this drive was a good deal. Also, I have another system that currently uses a Samsung SSD and it is fast and reliable. This review may be helpful to a post by Brandon L on 10/9/2018. I put this drive into an AMD machine running Windows Server 2010 R2 (based on Window 8.1 x64) and wanted to use it specifically for two VMs, so they would work fast. The SSD was not performing normally at all and when I ran CrystalDiskMark 6 to benchmark the SSD, the write speed was worse than a hard drive. The problem turned out to be it did not like the “AMD SATA Controller” driver. I was concerned about changing the driver as I had three each 3 TB hard drives attached and configured for software RAID 5. I had recently backed up my RAID 5 data due to drives that were old, and I recently replaced, so I changed the driver to the Microsoft “Standard SATA AHCI Controller” driver all then the SSD was working correctly and read and write speeds were 500 MB/s or more. Everything was still fine with my RAID 5 drives as well as the server’s boot hard drive, all of which worked well using the “AMD SATA Controller” driver, unlike the Samsung SSD.
Cons: None.

Pros: As with every Samsung drive I have installed, performance is great with no problems. The available Samsung installation programs are excellent.
Cons: When using the Samsung Magician app,the app says the drive is not genuine. I don't believe the drive is counterfeit, but I do suspect it was not to be sold in the USA. I'll probably never need the warranty ,but this issue should have been disclosed to the buyer of this product.
