SAMSUNG 906BW 19" WXGA+ 1440 x 900 D-Sub, DVI-D LCD Monitor

Pros: I purchased two of these monitors to replace both a 17" CRT and a 15" LCD flat panel. The new monitors set up easily and there were no dead pixels. The color and brightness are far better than any other LCD I've seen. Because the screens have a matte anti-reflective finish they are even easier to read in direct sunlight than my old CRT was (with its glass screen). The clarity is excellent. I was initially worried about running them at the recommended resolution (higher than anything I've used before), but I can read web sites from my seat (eyes 4 feet away from the screen) without adjusting the text size.

Cons: There were a few minor nuisances with these monitors. The first, of course, is that they came with the analog cables but no digital cables. I went ahead and ordered DVI cables when I checked out from newegg. Still, Samsung could do better. Also, the monitors have a severely limited tilt range. They won't tilt up more than 20 degrees, and they won't tilt down at all. If you are sitting with the monitors placed above eye level (as I am) or can't otherwise view them head-on, you will miss subtle color differences. It's no problem for me, but it would be a problem for graphic design, photoshop, etc. Finally... the 2000:1 contrast ratio is a dynamic contrast ratio, meaning that the monitor changes the pixel coloration and the brightness of the backlight in close synchronization to achieve maximum contrast. Sometimes, when the screen image changes quickly from bright to dark (as with video), you can see the monitor trying to adjust the backlight. It can be slightly distracting

Overall Review: I am very happy with these monitors and a few minor quibbles are to be expected, especially with dynamic contrast technology which is fairly new. If I had to make this decision again, I would purchase these monitors again.

Pros: Very clear, crisp picture. Lots of space for everything. World of Warcraft looks amazing on this screen!

Cons: My stand is a tad wobbly since the screw that attaches the bottom of the stance to the rest sticks farther down that the rubber feet. Might just have done it wrong. Either way, easily fixed though.

Overall Review: Have 1 stuck pixel. Red. Very small and hard to see. Overall very pleased!

Pros: Purchased two screens, no stuck or dead pixels. Excellent brightness and contrast (almost painful, actually). Color reproduction is accurate (they do not bias blue). Backlight bleed is almost never detectable. It is most apparent while watching 4:3 video playback, on the left and right edges of the screen in the vertical black letterboxing. I had to try very hard to spot any LCD lag/motion blur on these units (I fired up UT 2k3 and upped the mouse sensitivity to maximum and spun around in a brightly lit area... even then it was barely perceivable). The bottom line: if you have a nice CRT(s), and you have been waiting to make the jump to LCD, jump on these!

Cons: These screens are more expensive than other models in their resolution and size class. The bases they ship with only adjust through about 25 degrees of tilt. Odd resolution, so playback of any HD video is going to include a lot of scaling with possible artifacts (not that this is an issue with nice players/codecs).

Overall Review: These are easily the best LCD screens I've ever had the chance to use for an extended period. They were the best match to my criteria. I switched to these screens from a quality pair of 22'' inch component-in CRTs manufactured in their heyday (early '90s) which were capable of a mximum resolution of 1280x960@85hz (who had the VRAM back then for higher resolution desktops?). These screens are still incredible, but only if you have a card with RGB and vertical/horizontal (W/Blk) out, or plain VGA (conversion cables). Since cards these days only ship with DVI ports, it became time to make the jump to LCD. My criteria: Medium resolution. It is difficult to drive modern games at a constant 60FPS if your screen has a high native resolution. Good contrast and color reproduction. It needed to rival my old quality CRTs. Color balance. I do some print work, and I need to adjust colors onscreen to exactly how they are going to come out on paper.

Pros: - Works fine. - Looks nice. - Could not notice any ghosting effect.

Cons: - Viewing angle isn't all that great. - Seems to have issues with analog input, forgets its last calibration with a certain video mode sometimes. - The analog auto calibration has different results depending on what is displayed on screen at the time. - Analog input isn't always perfectly clear, have to auto calibrate a few times.

Overall Review: For analog input, recommend using white screen full of text to get best calibration results.

Pros: Great monitor, especially for the price. Response time and contrast are amazing for the price.

Cons: The specifications say that this monitor INCLUDES a DVI cable. IT DOES NOT! This item is RETAIL, so Newegg will tell you to contact the manufacturer. DO NOT BUY THIS ASSUMING IT INCLUDES A DVI CABLE!

Overall Review: Great monitor, despite the lack of cable. Overall, it may be worth just buying the cable separate. Although, I hope Newegg updates the specs or puts a note in the item description.

Pros: Crisp display, easy setup, zero dead pixels. Overall very happy with it, owned for one month. Even without hieght/tilt adjustment, you have ample freedom for various mounting.

Cons: Stand seems shakey, but have yet to knock it over. No digital cable.

Pros: Bright! I had to turn the brightness down actually. It looks very good (the physical monitor itself) as does the display. It's great for movies or TV shows and the native resolution is perfect for me (not too big so that I can't see text or so big that my video card can't handle playing new games on it).

Cons: None really, but I don't care for the "MagiColor." It isn't a problem as I changed the color settings to how I like.

Overall Review: This monitor (and my Samsung cellphone) have turned me into a fan-boy in the making.

Pros: Arrived from Newegg's NJ warehouse in less than a day. Unpacked this powerhouse and found no dead or stuck pixels! Teamed it up with an NVidia GeForce 7600GS (also from Newegg) and this puppy screams with the settings set to max rez (1440x900 @ 75Hz) while I play World of Warcraft and Planetside. Setup was a cinch (be sure to get a DVI cable as this one doesn't come with it) to setup. Hit a few buttons using the OSD and whammo! I was gaming and not getting any blur or ghosting thanks to the 2ms response!

Cons: None so far! My eyes don't ache after hours of gaming and surfing the web. Even makes DJ'ing on my internet radio station a joy!

Overall Review: Just be sure to get the DVI cable (if your vid card supports it.) Also, you can use one monitor with 2 separate inputs (one DVI, one D-Sub) just by switching from Digital to Analog. Really reduces the clutter on the desktop.
