Question 2

Is the cooling system sufficient for the I5 processor?  I am using an HP Pavilion laptop that runs hot all the time.

Lacking more details as to your precise configuration, it's hard to compare. The RAM SODIMM on my ATIV 2 runs at 1.35V. If your module runs higher than that, it's likely to generate more heat, although the efficiency of the Processor (not all i5's are created equal) also has an important bearing. I have not experienced any issues with my machine, but you should understand I've had it for only a few weeks and that I'm a moderate user and certainly not a gamer. In that context, and thus far, I have had no performance issues whatsoever. You get a fair amount of bang for your buck with this Sansung. But it will all depend on your individual needs. Can a DVD be played on this?  Can a mouse be used with it?

DVD software is not included with Windows 8.1, but the hardware DVD player is just fine (not Blu-Ray). A mouse may be used via one of three USB ports.

The body is plastic, although it is likely a synthetic and not simple plastic. The laptop is very light this way, but it isn't a survival laptop.

Is the computer good for gaming?

If you're a serious gamer probably not.  But the processor is more than fast enough to handle PC gaming and the display is very good.  I just wouldn't say it was designed strictly for gaming.  But the specs of the laptop will handle gaming for most of us out there.

Because I'm a novice at buying any kind of computer, can this laptop watch dvds, and burn a disc for music?
