Does this design fit well on a key chain?  Is it durable enough for a key chain?

Yes it is. This flash drive has some weight to it and is pretty durable and sturdy.

What is the continuous read speed on this Samsung 3.1 flash drive for large reads (20GB to 50Gb of  1GB files)? My current SanDisk throttles at 80MB near the middle to end of such batches.

I don't have precise numbers with which to answer your question.  I use it to back up My Documents file once a week.  I haven't read large files from it except when I delete the oldest file before copying the current file to it.  This is a duplicate backup because I save each document I change or create to a USB 2 drive at the time.  My documents consists of 6.07 GB consisting of 11,462 files and 1,843 folders.  It deletes that in about 5 minutes.  There are quite a few photos in that mix.  It takes about 10 minutes to copy from my hard drive to the flash drive.  I doubt if this will help you.  It has a reputation for being very slow when writing to it and I realize it is a slow writer but it satisfies me.  It get slower as it progresses to the end of the file.
