Great SSD 6/7/2018 5:16:20 AM

Pros: Late review, a testament to this thing's longevity. Not much to say here, except that this SSD is really fast. At the time of purchase, this was one of the fastest SSD's on the market, and the price point matched the performance. Do not regret purchasing this at all, still going strong after much usage and many formats nearly 3 years later. Used as an all in one (OS/games/everything else) drive. Stays cool and has reduced my boot and loading times to nearly nonexistent. Highly recommended.

Cons: None

Sustained Performance In Heavy Workloads 7/18/2017 8:35:30 AM

Pros: Very fast overall for productivity, gaming and game copying, video/photo editing and transcoding. When working with large files and Write-heavy workloads this drive has very low latency and maintains very good steady-state (sustained) speeds compared to any other 2.5" SATA-based SSD. That means the job is completed faster with less lag and waiting time.

Also, it's very quick and responsive in mixed workloads which is a big advantage in multi-tasking.

Premium quality MLC NAND.

10-Year Warranty.

Cons: Price. Worldwide demand for NAND flash chips has increased a lot and prices have risen. Is it possible the manufacturers are maintaining this shortage in order to maintain high prices? Hmm ...

Overall Review: We got the Extreme Pro 960GB a couple of years ago from a different online store where it was on sale. In addition to everyday use for internet, Office, and games we also do a fair bit of editing home video shot at 1080p plus some photo cropping and enhancement. The Extreme Pro flies through this work, and there's been no dropoff in performance over that two years of use.

It's a fact that for booting up and running everyday tasks such as email, internet, word processing, etc. there's no noticeable difference between a cheap SSD and a premium one. They are all very fast for normal tasks. Even when loading 3D games the budget price SSDs get the job doe just as fast. This is because a.) They all have good Read speeds and b.) most software (including games) isn't coded to take advantage of that available speed.

Having said that, if you have a need for fast, low-latency, very durable performance with a very long life expectancy you could do like many professional video and photography people do and get yourself a Sandisk Extreme Pro. By the way, the 480GB model is equally fast even though the capacity is smaller.

SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD 1/11/2017 9:37:35 AM

Pros: Fast. (no not PCIe fast but still fast)
Was purchasing PCIe SSDs for my CAD workstations but i see no real world speed increase over these drives which are cheaper and seem to have a longer life span.

Cons: none
