Pros: Bought this USB drive to play music in my car through my new Pioneer head unit. Upon receipt I immediately removed the U3 software (removal software can be downloaded at U3's website) which was extremely simple. You have to reformat after removing the U3 software. It can be formatted as FAT32 or NTFS (NTFS takes 90 MB).
This USB drive works flawlessly with my Pioneer head unit giving me access to my music at a touch of a button in my car.
Overall for the price this USB drive is a great unit despite the fact that it will take an hour to fill up.
Cons: Copying over 15 GB of music is probably the most rigorous test an USB drive can take since it amounted to 2,811 small files rather than a couple large files. It started of pretty slow at 5.4 MB/S and by the end was limping along at 4.5 MB/S. It took a total of 55 minutes to copy everything over averaging at around 4.7 MB/S. Simply put if you are looking to use this drive to copy over large amounts of data quickly forget it. For my purpose this was fine since I will rarely be removing or adding any addition files to the drive.
Overall Review: As usual the drive only actually has 15.1 GB of usable space since somehow the memory manufactures continue to get away with saying a kilobyte = 1,000 bytes rather than 1,024 bytes.
Been a fan of the Cruzer Micro design for years, and while this one does differ the changes are so minor I can't say I prefer either design over the other.
Pros: This is actually my first flash drive. I've been in need of one for quite some time now. So when I went searching for one, I was looking for space. Then I heard about the U3 drives, and was very interested. So of course, I bought it. Their is really no downside to owning this, as you can remove the U3 program at any time.
The construction of this is pretty good. Although this might be the weakest spot on this whole device, it's still not going to just fall apart, as the plastic is decently sturdy. The sliding USB connector is also very handy; no caps to lose.
The ability to have all of your favorite programs with you at all times is very handy! Say you go to your friends house and they are still using Windows Explorer, well here comes your Firefox with all your favorite add-ons! And of course, don't forget about the regular abilities of a flash drive!
Cons: The only one I could even think to say, is that the handful of people who don't wish to have the U3 program on here would have to take a few minutes to remove it....that's about it!
Overall Review: This is really a great investment. You can't possibly go wrong with this drive, as you can simply remove the U3 program and simply use all the 16GB's of space!
Another thought, I have heard a lot of people complain that the loop for a key-chain or lanyard is too small; easy fix, simply get a smaller key-chain loop or a small rope and loop it threw the hole, then attach that to your big key-chain/lanyard!
Thanks for reading, I hope this helped you buy this flash drive! :D
Pros: - Gave option to disable U3
- Extremely fast write and read speed, I know there are faster, but not at this price.
- For those asking, there is a little bar to put a wrist-wrap on, or you could rig up a keychain with something, works really well for me, im using a twist-tie to put it on my keychain. Not a trash bag one, but the one with the plastic coating.
- Sturdy design, operated very nice and smooth, it doesnt seem haggard at all with the capless design.
Cons: Could come with an actual mini key-ring on it so you don't have to rig it, but other than that, nothing at all, I was surprised.
Overall Review: Wonder if i should've gone 32 gig but back in the day a 256 cost this much, lol. 16GB is plenty for my uses
Pros: Nice, compact design. Love the fact that it's capless - no cap to lose, ever! Amber 'in use' light is just bright enough and very tasteful - no annoying super bright LEDs. Very large capacity. I only which I could afford larger!
Cons: 1) Doesn't come with anything to put it onto a keychain. The attachment point provided is so small that I cannot find a ring that will fit. 2) Not really a fan of U3. Unit comes preloaded with U3 software and provides a consistent nag screen everytime us use it to activate it. I am considering formatting to get rid of it.
Overall Review: Very reliable, large size, reasonable price. I'm very happy I bought it.
Pros: it's cheaper and portable to use
Cons: seems little low transfer late.
Pros: No cap to lose and faster than earlier cruzer micros.
I found it easy to remove the U3 software, reformat the drive and record a bootable backup of my laptop onto it. My disaster recovery backup took up half of the drive, leaving me the other half available for storing my personal files.
Overall Review: I have never attached any of my cruzer micros to a keychain because it is an easy way to scratch the casing. I keep all mine in a flash drive case.
Pros: I did a couple quick speed tests to see what this could do after I reformatted it using NTFS. For a 4.58g file it took 6:47 to copy while I was working; surfing, printing, etc. I was hoping for closer to 1g per min. but I can definitely live with this speed. I then reformatted the drive and copied a 83.2m file in 35 sec. Again I was hoping for better but no complaints. This was on my XP machine btw which I reformatted yesterday.
Cons: The one complaint I do have is that the USB doesn't lock when pushed out. It's not a big issue but it's worth noting. Another very small point if you're using a HAF 932 or Antec Nine Hundred case you won't see the orange activity light because the Cruzer goes in upside down.
Overall Review: Overall I would recommend this drive. It's a small adjustment getting used to the way the drive plugs in compared to a caped or locked USB drive and the download speeds could be a little better but for $44.07 with two day shipping I really can't complain. If you want to look elsewhere I was looking at either the Kingston Data Traveler 100 (cheaper) or the PNY Attaché (more expensive). As always Newegg got this to me very quickly.
Pros: Excellent read/write capabilities. Fast access for mp3 music.
I basically use this to store my favorite mp3's on and then connect to my work computer and run iTunes. For my application this works perfectly. 16Gig of storage on this small drive is very impressive.
