Is this device password encrypted?

Mine is via a commercial offering utilized by the company I work for.  No idea if it came with anything, but it does work well FIPS 140-2 encrypted and even works cross platform Windows and Mac.  Sorry, but ultimately the answer must come from SanDisk since even the shape has changed since I purchased mine.  Good luck!  Removal device encryption is critical, perhaps a search for that as a leading feature would reveal what you require.

Who’ll this also work with my iPad?

An iPad uses a specific type of connector, called a "Lightning connector".   
 Apple only uses this type of connector on its products like iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc.   It only works on Apple products and no other connectors, like microUSB etc, will work Apple  stuff. 
They're a little pricey but work great, and plug in on either side of the connector. Meaning, it doesn't matter which way you attempt to insert the connector, unlike various USB connectors that have a top and a bottom.
