Does the SanDisk CZ73 have an activity LED light?

OK, I just looked for the claimed green LED. It doesn't exist on my flash drive. That said, this is still a very good drive. I use it heavily every day for the past 2 years with no issues.

All Metal or is the black ring a plastic part?

It is plastic.  Mine is not always running, but as I recall the metal itself can get pretty warm and the plastic part makes it easier and more pleasant to remove the drive.

Is there a cap over the connector when not in use? If so, does it retract or separate?

It doesn't have a cap and it doesn't retract. What you see is what you get. Also, the black lanyard connector doesn't move. It's permanently attached to the stick in two ways: 1) a tiny bit of adhesive on both sides where it touches the metal body. 2)the metal body itself has a tiny lip that is rolled over onto the lanyard connector so even if the adhesive fails one day the metal roll should keep the lanyard connector in place. I was disappointed that the stick itself isn't solid metal. The innards are actually exposed on the underside. The pictures don't show this but the lanyard connector closes off that opening. You can look at the chipset through the lanyard connector. If it ever breaks off the insides of the stick will be exposed. Lastly, the speeds you achieve are dependent on your USB controller. You likely won't get anywhere near the advertised speeds.  I said more than you asked for but I thought it was important.
