I have an Adaptec 6805 with the plug-on Battery backup module.
If I use this enclosure, do I need an expander card? Ultimate question is does this take one SAS connector and give me access to 8 drives or it takes 2 SAS connectors from the 6805 controller and is just a enclosure?

The TR8X+B tower enclosure is just an enclosure and requires an HBA with 2x external SFF-8088 SAS interfaces in order to access drives in all 8 of the drive bays. Since I didn't need any RAID functionality I purchased a HighPoint Rocket 2722 External 8-Port PCI-Express 2.0 x8 SAS/SATA 6Gb/s Non-RAID Controller and have been very pleased with its performance.
