Almost D.O.A. 2/2/2009 10:28:17 AM

Pros: It was pretty. Nice box. 5.7 rating in Vista. bundled w/ lots of software. Overclocked. Quiet. Almost like the fan isn't even turning........hhhmmmmmmmmm

Cons: Not much documentation. I had a red light that i had to search message boards to let me know this means its overheating. Apparently my tech knowledge is "very low understanding".

Overall Review: My first foray into PCIE 2.0 arrived with a broken fan. I couldn't figure out why there was a red light on the board after a few minutes after booting up. after checking power, memory, cpu, it came down to the video card and over heating. New Egg was great in the RMA/return process. From the few moments that it would run, it appeared that the video card was great. For a replacement i decided to go with a Sapphire HD4850 1gb non toxic card.

Awesome! 12/16/2008 4:12:59 PM

Pros: If you're thinking about getting a Radeon 4850 THIS is the card to get! Great temps with the Zalman cooler and it's OC'd out of the box!

Cons: Just a little longer than a Sapphire 100245L HD 4850 with the dual slot cooler.

Overall Review: I have this card and another sapphire 4850 with the dual slot cooler and I'd recommend this one over the other.

Friggin' Sweet! 11/11/2008 5:33:42 PM

Pros: This card screams! I've never been an ATI fan, but now I'm sold. I read a lot of reviews that said the fan is really loud, but I don't notice... probably since i have 4 case fans running but it seems pretty quiet. The Zalman fan/heatsink on the card matches well with my Zalman fan/heatsink for my processor.

Cons: Drivers on disc are for Windows Vista 32-bit, not 64. Had to go to the website to get the right drivers

Overall Review: I returned an 8800 GTS and got this, I immediately noticed a performance increase. The price difference is well worth it.

HA. Unbelievable! 11/8/2008 11:43:12 AM

Pros: Great price. Great graphics. Good stability. Fantastic cooling and quiet. (My Lian LI case might help). Have this puppy overclocked to 737.5/1200 and stable at 72C core and 85C memory under max load w/ ATITool test (much much cooler idling). I see no reason to push it further. From what I hear, these temps are cooler than the stock 4850 (at 625/993). Running Crysis consistently above 30 fps with Natural Mod at 1680x1050 high spec. Could run any other game I own faster. Easy. Runs almost like a 4870 at $100 less!

Cons: You may not own one yet. Sorry.

Overall Review: I was running a OC Asus 2900xt (512MB, 800/1740) before this (still a good card). About a 10 fps increase in Crysis. Yeah, and I paid over 400 for that 2900xt card 1 year ago. Bummer. For me, this card is QUIET. It's little more than a whisper above my silent Lian Li case. 2900xt was a thunder jet. And 4850 mine came w/ blue PCB as advertised.

BUY IT cause it can run anything right now and it's a great price. Upgrade a year from now when nothing is playable, as always, and technology is cheaper and better.

System specs that matter: Core2Duo e6600 at 3.05 Ghz (9x339), Zalman 9500 cpu cooler, 3 MB of cheap Gskill 800 Mhz RAM (850 Mhz at 4-4-4-12), DFI Infinity Dark p965 MB, ATI Sapphire 4850 toxic, X-Fi xtreme gamer, Lian Li PC-101 black, Seasonic 650W, Samsung 7200rpm 500GB HD model#?, Samsung DVD/CD-ROM player/writer model#?

excellent 10/30/2008 6:38:27 PM

Pros: Huge step over the old 6600GT. Can play HL2 maxed with 60+ fps at 1680x1050 on an old PC A64 3800+ s939 with 2GB DDR400; The graphic score on 3DMark2005 is 10789 for the card and also making 3400 PPD on F@H. Even the card is working at PCI-E v1.2 @ 16X the card is doing very well.

Cons: The fan is really a little bit noisy and the card itself is huge. There is just half an inch gap between the card and the case. The fan does not have rpm control.

Overall Review: The card build looks cheap but actually it is made very well.

okay... I guess 10/25/2008 9:24:13 AM

Pros: A huge step up from a 8600GT and able to run WAR with balanced settings and forced AA/AF at 8x liquid smooth. Also maxes out WoW with framrates never dropping below 35 even in Shattrath or Ironforge when busy. Tops out at about 55C in a case with a few low RPM 120mm fans.

Cons: Fan is terribly loud with no way to set it in software and the power pin connector is some mini 3 pin that no fan speed controller can connect to. I also cannot reboot without getting all kinds of jagged white lines all over my screen. Can shut down wait 10 seconds and turn back on with no problem but no restarts or I get screen garbage.

Overall Review: I am probably very limited by my current CPU/MB/RAM combo as it is Socket 939 if that gives you an indication of its age. Getting ready to upgrade all of these and hoping the screen corruption issue on reboot will go away with new MB. After reading further reviews if I had to go back probably would have picked a different card. If you dig around the net you can find a few charts with sound levels of various 4850's and can find one with comparable performance that runs much quieter.

good but mine are RED!!! 10/23/2008 8:22:48 AM

Pros: Zalman Fan keeps the card fairly cool. good performance. Overclocked.

Cons: Fan speed CANNOT be adjusted. Both my cards are on RED PCB not blue like it should be. This really ruined my build. Everything is black and blue except these cards. Part of the reason I got these was because they were supposed to be on blue PCB.

Overall Review: If they wouldn't have performed so nicely they would have got a 3 out of 5. The good performance got them a 4 out of 5.

One of my cards idles at 39 degrees C and fan runs at 1750rpm. The other card idles at 48 degrees C and fan runs at 1850rpm. Odd.

Running 2 of these in crossfire and they do perform very well. This is on an all AMD setup.

Asus M3A79-T, 9950 125w, 8gb ddr2, 2 x 4850 toxic, corsair HX1000, Antec 1200, BenQ 24" monitor, Logitech 5.1, Asus Xonar DX sound card, Zerotherm Nirvana.

Great card, a little noisy though 10/17/2008 2:00:38 PM

Pros: High clock speeds, runs much cooler than stock heatsink. These cards are very fast! Nice job assembling the card, heatsinks on memory and VRMs too.

Cons: Fan on the VF900 spins at about 1800RPM at all times and can't be adjusted. Uses the reference PCB so its still a long card, doesn't use the shorter redesigned PCB that their "dual slot" one does.

Overall Review: Spoke with Sapphire regarding ways to adjust fan speed without voiding warranty. They suggested a popular video card tweaking program which could detect the speed but not alter it. There don't appear to be entries for fan speed in the BIOS either.

Their use of a 3-pin connector for the fan would have allowed a fanmate to be used to adjust speed if they hadn't used a smaller, non-standard 3-pin power connector to couple the fan's power cable to the power cable coming from the video card PCB. Didn't feel like trying to find the right connectors and mod a fanmate (which still might not have worked anyways).

Ended up returning the card, as I'd rather not have to void the warranty just to slow down the fan.
