Radeon RX Vega64 8G HBM2

Built for extreme gamers, the SAPPHIRE Radeon RX VEGA 64 graphics card packs the ultimate power of AMD’s VEGA architecture with revolutionary HBM2 memory. Get ready to experience a superior gaming experience with high resolution, high refresh rate, and enter the exhilarating virtual reality world that you’ve always dreamed of. This card also comes with a load of AMD’s advanced technologies, such as FreeSync, LiquidVR and XConnect, to make your gaming experience even more enjoyable.

FEATURES
DirectX 12

DirectX 12 is a new, “console-like” graphics API from Microsoft that empowers game developers with more direct and obvious control of PC hardware. This direct or “explicit” control better exposes the hardware resources of AMD Radeon GPUs to yield higher hardware throughput and, ultimately, more performance for users. To put it simply: much more efficient hardware through smarter software! At the discretion of a game developer, this superior efficiency can be spent on higher framerates, lower latency (VR), lower power consumption, better image quality, or some calculated balance of all four. In any scenario, gamers stand to benefit greatly from choosing AMD hardware to run their favorite DirectX 12 game.

High Bandwidth Memory

Introducing HBM, a new type of memory chip with low power consumption, ultra-wide communication lanes and a revolutionary new stacked configuration. HBM’s vertical stacking and fast information transfer open the door for truly exciting performance in innovative form factors. And GPU applications are just the start – look for HBM’s superior power efficiency and space savings to spark industry-wide innovation.

HIGH BANDWIDTH

Performance well beyond DDR4/GDDR5/LPDDR4 HIGH BANDWIDTH

POWER EFFICIENCY

>3X the performance per watt of GDDR5

SMALL FORM FACTORS

94% less PCB surface area than GDDR5

AMD FreeSync Technology

No stuttering. No tearing.

AMD FreeSync technology allows a compatible graphics card and monitor to dynamically change frame rates for the optimum display quality without tearing.

Industry-Standard DisplayPort

FreeSync uses industry-standard DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync which eliminates screen tearing without all the usual lag and latency.

AMD XConnect Technology

Now it’s easier than ever to connect and use an external Radeon graphics card. With AMD XConnect technology, external GPU enclosures configured with Radeon Graphics can easily connect and disconnect to a compatible ultrathin notebook or 2-in 1 over Thunderbolt 3 at any time, just like a USB flash drive—a first for external GPUs!

Virtual Super Resolution

Virtual Super Resolution (VSR) is an AMD feature that is game and engine agnostic to simulate Super-Sampling Anti-Aliasing (SSAA) in games that do not have native SSAA support. VSR can also be used in conjunction with other native in-game anti-aliasing for even more game graphics-setting control. VSR allows games to render at higher resolutions (up to 4K) and then rescales them down to a lower native display resolution. Using this, you can get quality that rivals up to 4K, even on a 1080p display while playing your favorite games.

AMD Eyefinity Technology

We are taking you beyond the boundaries of traditional PC displays. AMD Eyefinity technology expands the traditional limits of desktop computing by multiplying your screen area. With multiple monitors, games become more immersive, workstations become more useful and you become more productive (an average of 42% more productive according to one study).

Take your PC games to the next level of reality and immersion. Most modern games look great on three screens, and only AMD Radeon graphics offer you the ability to play across five screens for an eye-popping gaming experience. Other combinations and configurations with up to six screens work too.

Introducing AMD LiquidVR

LiquidVR is an AMD initiative dedicated to making VR as comfortable and realistic as possible by creating and maintaining what’s known as “presence” — a state of immersive awareness where situations, objects, or characters within the virtual world seem “real.” Guided by close collaboration with key technology partners in the ecosystem, LiquidVR uses AMD’s GPU software and hardware sub-systems to tackle the common issues and pitfalls of achieving presence, such as reducing motion-to-photon latency to less than 10 milliseconds. This is a crucial step in addressing the common discomforts, such as motion sickness, that may occur when you turn your head in a virtual world and it takes even a few milliseconds too long for a new perspective to be shown.

Likes a challenge. UserBenchmark score of 134%.

Pros: -Beautiful, simple design. Not "loud" on the outside. Lets the tech speak for itself.
-Bigger performance boost than I was expecting over my recent Sapphire Nitro+ 580 Special.
-It blows the heat OUT of my case not around the inside. This is much preferred for my setup over a fan solution.
-Honestly, not louder than my recent 580 in my experience.
-I've had no crashes or overheats with extremely minimal tweaking.
-Clocked out of box at 1630/945.
-Got it for $405.00 and spent $30 bucks for next day, Saturday delivery. Been worth every penny.

Cons: -I wish the RADEON lights would turn blue when you switch the color for the usage indicator. Kinda silly, honestly.
-The card is not recognized as a Sapphire vendor built card so I lost my "ASRock-Sapphire" boot screen and Sapphire Boost that's generated when you pair a Sapphire card with an ASRock motherboard.
-The card itself does get up into the 80s, but again, all that hot air is being blown OUT of my case.

Other Thoughts: -Absolutely purchase at $400.
-Give it some work to do. Jack up the settings on a 4K display, turn off that frame rate monitor, and feel the games. They will play smooth as butter. Over 30fps is just fine, for crying out loud.
-I've had it for 19 days with no qualms and I was a tiny bit worried I'd have buyers remorse, but I love it.

Best video card I have ever owned!

Pros: Fast as heck.

Undervolting potential.

Overclocking potential.

Build quality.

Works great with WattMan software.

Cons: Blower cooler is not particularly silent.

Runs a bit hot at stock settings, so adjusting the fan is a must.

Other Thoughts: After several hours of tweaking, I undervolted both the GPU and memory and overclocked just the memory. I did not bother overclocking the GPU because it was very sensitive to crashing and did not provide significant gains in performance.

My GPU voltages for states 1-7 respectively are as follows: 800, 850, 900, 950, 1000, 1050, and 1100mV. I did not touch the frequencies.

My memory voltage is set to 975mV. I also overclocked the frequency from 945 stock to 1075MHz.

In regards to my fan curve, I set it at 12% from 0 C to 50 C, then increased it linearly to 85% at 75 C.

Making all of the above adjustments gave me the following great results:

In the Heaven Benchmark in windowed mode at 1600x900 resolution: my average FPS increased by 9% from stock; my max GPU temperature went down from 85 C to 72 C; and my max hot spot temperature went down from 99 C to 92 C.

In Battlefield V at ultra settings at 1080p: my average FPS increased by 11% from stock, and my max memory temperature went down from 90 C to 80 C.

Buy this card, enjoy tweaking it, then reap the rewards!

Random Crashes for 3 months

Pros: Good performance when it's not crashing

Cons: Consistently crashed during games, random reboots and crashes even when idle or doing non gaming tasks
Loud stock fan (as expected)

Other Thoughts: Everyone recommends under-volting, but several configurations from various guides online and sources still had crashes,
not to mention driver settings went back to normal after
I tried several driver versions as well, including the latest adrenalin 19
I'm sick of the instability, I think the radeon drivers have gotten better but $400+ dollars on unstable hardware is too much, I hope AMD invests more into their graphics since their CPUs have been doing so well.
I really wanted an all AMD build to work this time, but everytime I go with a radeon card I have problems.

Beats the EVGA 1080 SC

Pros: Amazing product. Easy set up and update. With a little tweaking this cards runs cooler with no penalty to performance. If you don't want to manually tune it, you can just click on the pre-defined settings that over clock or under volt.

Cons: Fans can be noisy, but I play with headphones so I can't hear anything.

Great Budget Card

Pros: Awesome Card for the price and the games were amazing bonus
Decent core/memory clock speeds

Cons: You need to know how to under volt/over clock to get the most out of this card (which is not hard)
Card needs lots of air to stay cool and if you adjust fan curves to prevent thermal throttling it will sound like a jet.

Other Thoughts: I've had this card for months now and I've had no major issues and when I did have issues the latest driver updates fixed them.
I run my card around 1600 core clock and 1000 memory clock and its completely stable in all games at about 71 Celsius but I do have the fan curve maxed out to maintain temperature.

hotspot

Pros: performs very well in my 1080p / 144hz rig.

Cons: Vega's notorious GPU hotspot issue.

reference cooler sounds like a hair dryer past 2500 rpm

throttles at stock settings (unacceptable)

pretty much requires undervolting

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a card to drop into your PC and play, Vega is not for you. it's a card for people who like to tinker and fine tune.

I purchased $100 in aftermarket cooling (Morpheus 2 + Noctua fans). Core/HBM and noise dropped but the GPU hotspot issue remains. I wish AMD would acknowledge this issue and speak about it.

Stellar card for $400USD

Pros: Great price to performance
Eats up all games with awesome FPS
Undervolting easily solves heat issues for this blower style cooler
Cool and quiet
AMD continues to keep Nvidia honest and is all I buy to support the only company that does this

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Mounted a $8 80mm 4pin pwm fan ontop of the blower and my temps @ 1650Mhz core 950Mhz HBM is: room temperature 20c-24c idle ( it does downclock at idle to 26Mhz core and 176 Mhz HBM ) and playing games maxed out with zero throttling doesn't go above 65c. Make sure you use 2 independent 8pin pci power connectors on this beast and have ample case airflow. As of now for me OCing is not required, my undervolt on the core is 1.050v from 1.200v stable which is amazing.............
