Cons: EDIT: of original review. This disk did die a horrible death, just a sudden stop. I was using it as the parity drive on on an Unraid array. After 32 days it collapsed, I returned it to Seagate, they sent me an RMA, I have the new one back in the computer and I am reassigning it to the same task today,,, I am hopeful. 8/22/20

Overall Review: I do recommend this product. This is my new disk going forward for all my arrays. I didn't run any tests to evaluate the performance. I am just going by my impression, but to me performance is noticeably better by at least 10% over similar drives in the array.

Cons: Drive failed upon installation while building four disk Raid 5 with reallocated Sectors=10936 and ATA Error Count=225. Update: A second drive failed while I was building the Raid 10, so back it goes. 50% failure rate so far, and I haven't stored any data yet.

Overall Review: Returning to Newegg for replacement. Ordered a spare drive because other reviewers noted four+ week turnaround delays for warranty returns. First time I have had a problem with Seagate out of the box.

Pros: Passed initial tests with SeaTools for Windows Spent the last 24 hours in my Synology NAS as the storage pool is rebuilt It has the 3 screw holes on each side so it fits in my Synology drive carriers! Valid warranty confirmed with Seagate

Cons: Loud! You can really hear the drive heads stepping from one place to another. 1 of these 8TB drives is louder than the other 3 other drives in the NAS combined! 2 of these 8TB drives will be really loud.

Overall Review: So far, so good. Drive was packed extremely well which is why I buy my drives from Newegg and not other companies starting with 'A'. Drive passed about 9 hours of testing with SeaTools so it's now in my Synology NAS being added to the storage pool (about a 36 hour rebuild task). Unfortunately, and this is not a fault of the drive, replacing a 3TB NAS drive with this 8TB drive results in either no additional storage or 1TB of additional storage. I'll know the exact number soon. :( In another month I'll replace another 3TB drive with another of these 8TB drives and I'll then see a total of 5TB of new storage (from adding 16TB of new drives). Not looking forward to how noisy 2 of these drives will be in the NAS!

Cons: Noisy when installed in a Synology DS220+ NAS - maybe the NAS box increases the sound?
