Pros: I recently purchased a used Dell Dimension E520 in just about mint condition. It had no hard drive though as the previous owner kept it for personal/security reasons. Understandable. So I found myself in need of a hard drive. Came to Newegg and found this Seagate SV35 Series ST3500411SV 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. Installed yesterday without issue. Purchased Windows 7 Home Premium, installed as expected. This hard drive is surprisingly quiet and quite fast so far. Hoping for a reliable, stable machine now.
I plan on using this 5-year-old Dell as a dual-boot machine for the purposes of testing and using various Linux distributions. This drive seems more than up to the task.
Pros: I have ran this drive since 2011 without a hiccup. Great for additional storage. I have used this drive in multiple machines as either boot drives or as additional storage. Works great for either.
Cons: I haven't seen any cons with this product at all...
Overall Review: I have been impressed with the quality of this Seagate drive since I installed it on the first computer. Since 2011, this HD has been in 3-4 different computer configurations and is still going strong.
Pros: Lots of space. Quiet, Fast, Cheap. Installs programs quickly and does everything i want.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I actually didn't mean to buy this Hard Drive....I wanted to buy the Seagate 500GB SATA drive (not this SV35 Series) but this was the one that was in my wish list for some reason and I didn't double check my shopping cart!! lol. There was a $10 difference in price, not sure why. Maybe this one is faster? Whatever. Works great for me.
Cons: Price. Even for 60$ that it's being sold for now, it's VERY pricy compared to the other HDDs out there. You could get a 5star 1TB for 70$ during one of the sales easily.
Overall Review: At the time I'm writing this review, the price of this drive has gone up $15. I paid $85 plus tax for this. I was going to get a Toshiba 1TB that was the same price as one of the daily deals, but it was a bare drive, and I wanted my drive to at least come with an extra SATA cable. I ordered this because nowhere in the description does it say that this is a bare drive. All I got was the hard drive and some plastic-wrap. The drive is great, but it came with nothing and I could've gotten twice the storage for the same price.
Pros: Easy install. Works great. 500gb of space even though i already need more. haha. If youre a gamer like me but on a cheap budget pick it up. If you've got a lil more coin to spend then i'd recommend a bit more space, But this things working great for me so far :D
Cons: Its not a SSD and it knows it, no matter how hard it trys to be :p
Pros: SATA 6.0 does give it a good speed boost, works as expected
Cons: none
Overall Review: I've had a few Seagates fail on me before, both ATA and SATA. Time will tell if this batch is reliable or not.
