SeaSonic S12II 430GB 430W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: I've had Seasonic - OEM PSUs before (Corsair TX750 V1, PC Power & Cooling Silencer MKII) but never an actual Seasonic PSU and when my last PSU that I was using in my HTPC shorted out on me I decided to give them a try. And man this is one quality PSU. Strong, sleeved cables, tons of cable ties, a case badge, and everything you need - it's even SLI capable. It's incredibly quiet as well - you barely know the thing is on. Got it at a discounted price of $59.99 as well - it really meets everything that I needed it to do and it's very well constructed on top of that.

Cons: None so far!

Pros: This is incredibly quiet, had nice voltages under fairly heavy loads, and a typical setup with 2 hard drives and 1 midrange graphics card only recommends a 330W supply anyway so this is perfect! Very little heat emitted too.

Overall Review: Seasonic secretly makes a whole bunch of other brands of power supplies so just buy the original.

Pros: This is the highest quality, best appearing and performing power supply I've used yet. All my builds in the last 4 years have been with Seasonic OEM PSUs, but the last few have been retail. This beautiful, 80+ Bronze certified 430W unit will make you confident that you made the right choice. In operation it's cool, unbelievably quiet, and solid.

Cons: What about those two stupid 17A 12V rails, you ask? I don't think they're there (and Seasonic is dropping the ball by not spelling this out). The box makes no claim for OCP which is what would trip with an overloaded rail or unbalanced load. The revised .pdf data-sheet now only claims a 30A combined limit, and the manual never even mentions load balancing. Conclusion? It's all one big rail, so hook it up and forget it.

Overall Review: This PSU has every connector you could ask for in this class. I sure wish jonnyGURU would look at one of these. Seasonic is better at making quality PSU's than it is at promoting them. If you're building a big single GPU gamer or a powerful HTPC, and you believe that a high quality PSU is the right foundation for your build, this is your next power supply. Spend the extra $20 here. All from the egg.

Overall Review: I've worked on many computers and had many power supplies died. I always just bought the replacement that was on sale that week and moved on. Finally, I got sick of buying replacements and asked for a good recommendation form a friend of mine works on servers and he said SeaSonic and only SeaSonic. I decided to give it a try and I am impressed. Even if I OC and run the PS near capacity, it does not overheat or crank fans up too loud. It's stable and I haven't had a problem. My friend has had his over 5 years and its still running fine. Go SeaSonic!

Pros: Worked straight out of the box, quiet in operation and absolutely reliable thus far. Craftsmanship is evident in the build quality and it runs without producing much waste heat.

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Overall Review: Will certainly purchase again for future builds.

Pros: PSU's are expected to do their unglamorous job quietly. They should be seen and not heard. In that department, this unit excels. The fan is all but silent, the power gets to where it should go, and the PC works well as a result. Cables are plenty long enough to go where you want them. I have 5 SATA drives, 1 IDE drive, and a floppy drive, and this PSU has enough connectors to deal with them, and then some. Has 2 PCI-E connectors for Crossfire/SLI setups.

Cons: I can't think of anything. If you want more power, you shouldn't be reading a review for a 430W supply.

Overall Review: The 80PLUS Bronze rating was a major factor in my choice to get this PSU.

Pros: I bought this for my HTPC because I wanted a power supply that is very quiet and generates very little heat. This PS is all I wanted and more. It is very cool and really quiet.

Cons: I wish it were modular (so I could remove the extra cables I don't need). But I knew that when I ordered it.

Overall Review: I was really worried about fan noise because of my experience with cheap power supplies. I really cannot hear this one running unless I put my ear right up to the fan!

Pros: Jonny guru gave these psu's a 9.7, that beats out the G2, which is double the price. The 430/520/620 watts are a HUGE bargain and steal. Seasonic is "tier 1" and known for it's quality and silence. Long warranty is great too.

Cons: Not modular. Boo-hoo use three zip ties and get a psu that's highly rated and half the price of the competition. I used it in an ITX and it's fine. Semi-modular would be nice, but at this price point, I can not complain.

Overall Review: REMEMBER the biggest mistake I see is people falling for the marketing: Power efficiency rating (bronze, silver, gold, etc) does NOT correlate with QUALITY. There are plenty of poor quality "Gold" rated PSUs. I admit that Gold vs Bronze you will save you $3.08/year in electricity costs, but needing to run you psu for 10-20 years to recoup that loss at point of purchase, the math doesn't work out right. Get this psu in any variant and enjoy the savings, silence and quality.
