Question 1

Are the pictures correct on this? I don't see the 12VHPWR/PCIe 5.0 connectors but Seasonic's website links this PSU.
The pictures of the ports on the PSU are clearly different.
So is this not the ATX 3.0 one?

Accepted Answer

The PSU includes 2 dual 8-pin to 12VHPWR adapter cables. It is not an ATX 3.0 PSU.

Question 2

Does it have the 12 v connector ?

Accepted Answer

Hi, it comes with a 12VHPWR cable.

Question 3

Should I choose the newer PRIME TX-1600 ATX 3.1 over the older TX-1600 ATX 3.0?

Accepted Answer

Choose the newer PRIME TX-1600 ATX 3.1 when you are building around current high-power GPUs and want the latest documented platform standard. The ATX 3.1 version supports PCIe 5.1 and native 12V-2x6 cabling, while reviews of the earlier TX-1600 identified it as ATX 3.0-compatible only within specific power limits. The newer version is preferable for a new build; the older model remains suitable when its price is lower and its GPU power requirements are within its documented limits.

Question 4

Should I buy the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 or the PRIME TX-1300?

Accepted Answer

Choose the PRIME TX-1600 when your system may exceed 1,300W, uses multiple high-power GPUs, or you want more power headroom for future upgrades. Choose the PRIME TX-1300 for a single-GPU gaming or workstation build that stays comfortably below 1,300W. Both models use 80 PLUS Titanium efficiency, fully modular cabling, ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, and native 12V-2x6 support; the TX-1600 adds 300W of total capacity and includes two native 12V-2x6 connectors compared with one on the TX-1300.

Question 5

Is the PRIME TX-1600 suitable for a compact PC case?

Accepted Answer

The PRIME TX-1600 is better suited to a large ATX or workstation chassis than a compact case. Its 210mm length is longer than many standard ATX power supplies, so case clearance should be checked before purchase. The fully modular design helps cable management, but it does not reduce the PSU’s physical depth. Choose a smaller-wattage or shorter PSU when portability, compact dimensions, or easier installation is more important than 1,600W capacity.

Question 6

Is the PRIME TX-1600 worth choosing over a lower-wattage Titanium PSU?

Accepted Answer

The PRIME TX-1600 is the better choice when the system has an extreme power budget, multiple GPUs, heavily overclocked components, or a planned upgrade path that could approach 1,300W. For a typical single-GPU gaming PC, a lower-wattage Titanium PSU can provide the same efficiency class and modular-cable benefits while matching the system’s actual load more closely. The TX-1600’s main advantage is capacity and expansion headroom rather than higher gaming performance.

Question 7

How does the PRIME TX-1600 compare with the PRIME PX-1600?

Accepted Answer

Choose the PRIME TX-1600 when maximum efficiency is a priority. Both models provide 1,600W capacity and fully modular cabling, but the TX model uses 80 PLUS Titanium certification while the PX model is positioned below it in Seasonic’s PRIME lineup. Choose the PX-1600 when its price is substantially lower and the system does not need the TX model’s higher efficiency tier. The TX-1600 also combines high efficiency with low measured noise; Cybenetics testing reported approximately 20.7dBA average noise for the ATX 3.0 version.

Question 8

Will this power supply support a high-end graphics card, and does it include the required cables?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The PRIME TX-1600 provides 1600W of continuous power, eight PCIe 6+2-pin connectors, and two included 12VHPWR cables for compatible modern graphics cards. Confirm the GPU manufacturer's power requirement and use the included Seasonic cables rather than modular cables from another PSU.

Question 9

Is the PRIME TX-1600 quiet enough for a gaming or workstation PC?

Accepted Answer

It is designed for low-noise operation with a 135 mm fluid dynamic bearing fan, Premium Hybrid Fan Control, and a Cybenetics noise rating of A in the listed specifications. Actual noise depends on system load, room temperature, case airflow, and fan-control behavior, so it may become more audible when operating near high output.

Question 10

Is a 1600W power supply suitable for a normal gaming PC, or is it overkill?

Accepted Answer

The PRIME TX-1600 is best suited to high-power workstations, multi-GPU systems, heavily upgraded gaming PCs, or builds that need substantial future expansion. For a typical single-GPU system, 1600W may provide more capacity than necessary, so the extra cost, size, and unused power headroom should be weighed against the planned hardware.
