How long can I expect this power supply to last?

If past experience is any guide, well beyond the 5-year warranty. This is a replacement for a 400W Seasonic which served me for 12 years, outlasting 2 mainboards, 2 Windows versions and numerous hard and optical drives.  Other than the case itself, I believe the SS-400FB was the sole surviving component from my original build.

I want to use this power supply in a Rosewill R5 ATX Mid Tower (Item # N82E16811147161). Just making sure that it will fit. Also I am using the power supply to power a MSI Z77A-G45 ATX Motherboard (Item # N82E16813130645). Will these items be compatible with one another?

This power supply is a standard size ATX and should fit into any standard case such as the Rosewell. It will have no problems powering a motherboard, with 520W. What will more determine how much power you will need is the requirements of your graphics card(s), and whether you will be installing many Hard Drives.
I purchased the SeaSonic to run a Server, and while I only have a single low power graphics card, I am running 4 hard drives in two Raid pairs, with no problem.
I've found the SeaSonic to be a solid piece of equipment.

That graphics card  requires a good 450 watt power supply, the rest or your computer is standard power consumption, so a 520 is plenty.
You can't go wrong with Seasonic, they make most of the other high end brands.

Are the voltage/amperage specs given here to be understood as "this is the power delivered on each line" or "this is the amount of power available (if needed) on each line"?

My current 400w power supply shows lower amperage ratings for each of the lines. I just want to make sure I'm not overloading any of the circuits.

If you can plug in a hair dryer into the circuit and run it for 5 minutes, then you should have no problem with this.  The average hair dryer is 1000w-1800w.  Also the amperage rating is for 12vDC.  Dropping the voltage to 12v allows the power supply to give higher amps to that line.  A 520 watt power supply is pulling 4.33 amps from your wall outlet, but dropping the voltage to 12v allows more than 20 amps on each 12v rail.  The wall outlet may be a 10amp or 20amp circuit.  Check the circuit breaker at the electrical box.

To answer your question yes in theory it could. Bare minimum wattage for the GTX 960 is 400W. However I would recommend a Gold rated 620, simply for however depending pricing you can go with the 620W Bronze rated.

i'm confused. i saw builds on pcpartpicker where the cables are colored all black, not like what is shown here which have different colored wires just before the pins?

The modular version has the all black wires.

Not haswell compatible? what does this mean?

It's a sort of semi-sleep state that can reduce power consumption while idle.  Somewhat relevant on a laptop but on a desktop it's nothing to worry about.

Does this PSU have two 8-Pin CPU connectors?

This PSU provides one EPS12V/ATX12V 4-pin connector, and one EPS12V 8-pin connector. I recommend a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter cable, such as Newegg part number N82E1681_2189527 (remove the underscore, had to break up the numbers to post), or PSU that directly supports the configuration you require.
