Will it work properly, other than the hotkey function, without installing the software?

Hello to whom it may concern,

I'm not certain what equipment you are using at what resolutions, or if that actually even matters. I can say that I did not install the software and use it successfully with a Mac and PC with 4 k monitors working with video on and between both machines at high resolutions, but as I mentioned before I'm not certain if this information is helpful to you but I hope so!

Will this work with a windows and a mac book pro?

Yes it will work with a windows machine and a Mac Book Pro.  I have it hooked up to both machines currently.  The Mac Book Pro I needed to purchase a displayport to thunderbolt cable instead of using the displayport cable that comes with the KVM.  Other than that though I have had no problems with the KVM switch.

Question 3

Does this support USB 3.0, even if unofficially? If it's just a physical switch it seems like it would.

Best case would be usb2.0 speed.

Worst case, it wouldn't work at all.

Question 4

Does this KVM switch support daisy chaining of two monitors with display port cables?  I want to connect the output of this KVM to a Dell U2413 which would daisy chain to a Dell U3011

Sorry but I can't help with the answer:  I bought this KVM as a "future-proof" solution only to find that there is no way to convert the DVI & HDMI outputs on my video card to DP!  (The other direction is relatively easy....)

I hate to mention the obvious, but have you tried SIIG directly?

Does this work in conjunction with Monitor Emulation?   I currently use non-powered 'Switcher'   The issue that I have with this solution is that when I switch to another computer - I lose my 'monitor' and desktop size on the PC I just switched away from (As well as USB devices).   Does this trick the PC into thinking the monitor (at the very least) remains persistent even when you have switched to the other computer?

It doesn't, the inactive port machine thinks that the monitor and any usb devices plugged into the KVM are gone.

Does this monitor support lower resolutions at higher refresh rates? 1080@144hz?

This isn't a monitor. Only a switching device to run a monitor with multiple computers.
