Pros: High build quality, plenty of room, easy to work with, very nice looking. The aluminum front and steel frame make for a sturdy case. The tolerance/placement of all the standoffs and bays is perfect. The optical drive bay works perfectly with my Lite-on DVD burner (take the factory face off the tray to apply the aluminum face that comes with this case.) The Imon pad remote works great with XBMC/Linux, but I'm still unable to get the LCD working correctly. No biggie.

Cons: The depth is greater than I expected. Beware if you have a shallow cabinet you plan to put this in. Fine for me, and it does make for any easier build, anyway. The LCD is pretty dim. I mentioned that I was unable to get it working in Linux, which is true, but I have been able to activate it and can tell that the display is dimmer than desired.

The included case fan is a bit noisy and only comes with a large molex power connector. I have not tried replacing with a three-pin and using speed control, but this may help. I just opted for a better fan.

Overall Review: My HTPC build is hard drive-less. I boot xbmc from an SD card, which I have plugged into the included media card reader. I had to push the reader further back into the case to allow the door to shut while the card is inserted. Easy enough -- loosen four screws and push it back about a quarter-inch.

To get the remote working (the easy way) in xbmc, uninstall lirc and then reinstall it (using apt-get install) During the install, an ncurses configuration program runs and asks which remote you have. Choose the soundgraph imon pad option and you're set.

One of the Best!!! 10/21/2009 7:25:35 AM

Pros: This case really looks and feels like a piece of A/V eqipment, and it's build quality makes even Lian Li look like a budget brand - it's got a powder coated steel frame, a steel lid, and a 3/8" thick solid block of a brushed aluminum front panel.

The flap where the 3.5" bay is opens really smoothly and has a bit of resistance as you close it. A lot nicer than the loose flap that I had expected. And even It is solid 1/8" thick aluminum, so even if you've got kids they aren't going to break or bend it.

Seriously though, there are a ton of cases in this one's price range - Lian Li, Silverstone, Thermaltake....and believe me, they don't compare in quality. You might need the flexibility of a full size ATX case that this one doesn't offer, but

Cons: It's solid construction is also a slight drawback - the HDD vibration resonates within the case when it's closed. However, this is easily fixed in many ways (get sound dampening foam, an SSD , rubber HDD mounts, a network card with iSCSI booting, or use PXE network booting), so it's really not that big of a deal.

Overall Review: Like with any HTPC build, make sure you pick up the right components to keep the noise as low as possible. With this case I was able to make it completely inaudible at 1 foot away, with the exception of the HDD. But no worries, I'll upgrade it to an SSD soon enough :)

Also, look up "Ahanix" and "D-Vine". They have the exact same cases Moneual has (with minor variations), but can be found for a bit less.

Nice HTPC case 10/14/2009 12:34:46 PM

Pros: Got this sweet case for about $150, and was definately worth it. It's fairly compact, maybe a little too deep for an average sized media shelf, but has plenty of room. Not to mention it comes with the iMon VFD display. For the price, it is unbeatable.

Cons: Of all things, why did they gimp on the disc drive? The eject button on the case didn't line up with my DVD drive, plus the button is litterally a piece of plastic taped to the inside of the case. No springs or mechanisms. It's not a huge deal, I just taped a piece of plastic to the inside of the button so it could reach the drive and it has been working fine. Also, the silver drive door they give you has hooks on it, which I assume will only fit on certain drives. I had to shave the hooks off to get it to stick on my disc drive.

Overall Review: Overall a very nice case for an HTPC build. It covered the important parts for me, which were roomy case, front display, front ports/card reader, and slim design. I didn't like the button for the disc drive, but it doesn't make me regret buying the case in the least.

For those who are new to PC building, keep in mind that this case can only use low profile cards.

Love It! Great HiFi look! 8/13/2009 11:14:04 AM

Pros: I love this case! I had a larger case that held more drive but when I installed a WHS in the closet I then wanted to scale down the size of the main HTPC. This case is perfect for two hard drives, and a LG GGW-H20L drive. Looks more like a nice piece of HiFi equipment (DVD Player) then a computer which I like. Close fit inside but just right! With an Intel E8400 I needed more cooling then the stock fan could muster in this case. The ZEROtherm CF900 92mm CPU Cooler fit PERFECT with the top vent of the case. Exact fit like they were made for each other.

Cons: You do have to spend a few minutes aligning the DVD drive and drawer but it's not that hard. Once aligned it works great. You just need a good solid push on the DVD eject button to open it. Remote takes a bit of getting used to but works well. Just wish the case was cheaper, especially the black one!

Overall Review: GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H MB, Intel E8400, CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W PS, LG GGW-H20L Bluray/HD-DVD drive, Thermaltake CL-C0034 Copper Fan northbridge heatsink, ZEROtherm CF900 92mm CPU Cooler and 500GB and 1TB WD HD's.

Nice, but check your components!!! 6/10/2009 7:24:15 PM

Pros: 1.) The iMon remote is exactly what I was looking for. Not sure if it works in Linux though, I've only tried XP.

2.) Slick looking case.

Cons: 1.) Very frustrating that my LG Super Multi Blue doesn't clear the small slot. Especially after reading a review online that LG and Lite-On optical drives were recommended for this case.

2.) Documentation on how to hook up the front panel was sparse. Luckily tech support from Moneual is very good.

3.) Bought a microATX power supply thinking thats what this case would need... apparently not, its a full sized ATX power supply.
