SilverStone Argon Series AR01 CPU Cooler with 120mm Fan for socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011, AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2

Pros: This thing is flat out epic. Sitting at 25c idle at 4.3 @1.25 up from 3.4 on FX6300 6-core. Did you hear a pin drop?! I did and it sounded like an anvil that's how quiet this thing is! Invites the paranormal to your location for a vacation too, just WOW! This tower cooler is lighter than a feather for it's size and I have used many in my time, it outperforms and weighs infinitely less than offerings from competitors who begin with a T. Brrrr.... Did I just defeat Chill Penguin as X?! Cool as can be!

Cons: Manual is TOO SMALL. If SS reps see this, I recommend doubling the size of the manual. You will need eagle eyes or a magnifier to see thing!

Overall Review: I will keep using this thing forever, it's that good, honestly rivals WC and I'm not even kidding! I can only imagine what's going to happen when I put another fan on in push/pull config with a 120mm intake above it, blowing out the back, weee! As long as they keep pumping out this unit with updated brackets I can't see a reason to part from such a great unit.

Pros: -Quiet -Mostly Easy to install -Fit my socket (LGA 1150) -Looks Spiffy in my all blue interior.

Cons: -The backplate was pretty hard to line up for me, would have been easier with 2 people.

Overall Review: I am able to OC my 4790k to 4.8GHz at 1.35V, with the chip nice and cool at 68 C under load. For a relatively cheap air cooler I think that's pretty good. If you have a socket 1150 MOBO and are wondering if this will fit, it will.

Pros: Great value and performance at this price point

Cons: Bundled installation instructions almost useless. Found a youtube video that showed some but not all of the steps.

Overall Review: I used this with a A8-5600K to replace the stock AMD cooler. The system would intermittently shutdown, since the day I put it together, and finally traced it to the CPU overheating. Apparently the stock AMD cooler was inadequate from day one. I don't game or overclock, but since this cooler was installed, the highest core temp I have seen is 32 degrees C.

Pros: So glad I bought this cooler. It does an exceptional job at cooling a non overclocked FX-8320. Fan is inaudible. Prior to this I had only used stock clip on coolers so I thought install would be tricky, but it was a breeze and this sucker is on there secure! Overall I'm just really happy I chose this one.

Cons: None for me.

Overall Review: It is kinda big but just check your case dimensions to make sure it fits.

Pros: Very solid mount, great temperatures. The rubber fan mounting system works very well. Fantastic bang for buck.

Cons: The backplate is a little hard to position since the holes aren't marked for socket type, but once you figure it out the rest of the installation is very simple.

Overall Review: Replaced a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ with one of these to cool my 2500k at 4.4GHz. The AR01 is lighter, simpler, and gives me better temperatures. My temps don't break 70C during prime 95 testing. Highly recommended for a budget cooler.

Pros: I liked the overall construction and mounting approach, a simple direct motherboard mount. .

Cons: Once I carefully checked the instructions diagrams and found the appropriate standoffs for the am3+ versions mounting is simple ; ONLY if you use the original backplate. ! I had to use rubber spacers with. In a nutshell the included plate DOES NOT match the screw threads Mostly I am not completely satisfied with fan itself the verison shown here on Newwegg is outdated. I received the newer one 2.1 as per Silvstone's website that shows the fan frame being black, not blue, partly the reason I bought this item the blades are white . One major change to the fan is lowest rpm is a NOISY 1600! Newegg states 1000 rpm and upwards. At a size of 120mm the fan should not start @ 1600 rpm when sitting idle especially with heatsink this size. I will be using an extra COOLERMASTER fan instead with a more respectfull 800 to 2200 speed variance don't think much of silicone mounts. They are PAIN to attach the fan frame.

Overall Review: If I had known this all BEFORE I chose this item, definitely would have chose a HYPER 212. I have that one in another build for several years and no issues. What's the idea for this horrible OVER pricing of AR01. I paid 45.00$ not 90.00+ ? Have noticed this with other items as well. Barely WORTH 45$ for my own reasons. Depending on one's needs this may item may work for you

Pros: Awesome cooling, quiet, unique, well made craftsmanship. Proprietary rubber shock absorbing fasteners. Took a few hours chasing the backplate threads. The screw tapping of the threads on supplied screws and back plate are very tight. If you're not careful and skilled they will possibly strip. The manufacturer needs to have better quality control on the screw threads. The back plate does work and the instuctions are no smaller than say a motherboard manual. Magnifying glass! I'm half blind and managed although it took me 2 hours of patient chasing. So the last poster is not totally right. it's tight. The instructions are correct! Almost claimed they had tapped the wrong thread size! Just gotta have experience and skill that's all folks.

Cons: To be expected now days. Might have been bumped around a tad but nothing too terrible. Nothing is perfect. All in all considering shipping and handling. Came in in pretty fine shape. The packaging is awesome. I love it. So no real cons. Good fair reasonable price considering the quality, craftsmanship, material and great engineering. Manufacturer does need to address the quality of the screw threads and instructions. It is hard to understand. Study it with a mag glass, dont get in a hurry. Might have to chase tap the threads. Course I used to do this kind of stuff for a living. It isn't easy but can be done.

Overall Review: it's a work of art. Dropped temps way better than new corsair top of the line 3 fan radiator. Looks really cool no pun intended. Unique very good engineering of course it's a Silverstone! Thank you for the workmanship. The other poster is kinda right. The screws are there if you pay attention though. The instructions need to be followed to the letter! You're welcome. How come I don't get paid for this? Just takes highly coordinated skilled hands. Patience!
