Great Value for a Clamshell

Pros: Brushed Aluminum paired with hard plastics make for a solid feel
7th gen Intel i7 processor at a good price point
Solid State Drive provides very fast boot times
Full number pad on key board is great
Back-lit keyboard looks nice and typing experience is fine
3 USB ports, VGA and HDMI ports allow for connectivity that 2 in 1 laptops cannot provide
Total package at it's price point is hard to beat for anyone trying to stay under $800

Cons: There is no disk drive, although the case appears to have a molding for one
Power button is a key right about the number pad which feels like it might open you up to an accidental sleep (I havent had this experience yet)
Speakers are located under the machine, would have preferred them across the top of the keyboard

Overall Review: At the price point, this machine seems hard to beat. 8GB of RAM and an i7 Kaby Lake processor makes this machine capable of handling everyday tasks up to some intermediate photo and audio work a breeze. The machine is not built for high-end gaming of heavy-demanding games like Battlefield or GTA, but the 4GB of dedicated graphics memory on the Nvidia 940MX graphics unit allows casual gaming experiences without too much trouble. There is a sufficiently irritating amount of bloatware, but not so much that removing it is a huge hassle.

Choosing a clamshell over a 2 in 1 is a personal preference of mine as I have never enjoyed the user experience of the convertibles - if i want a table experience, ill just buy a tablet. As a laptop, this machine doesn't get very warm on the lap and exhausts out the left side of the case. The weight combined with the relatively cool run temp allow the user to sit the machine on the lap with general comfort.

The track pad is VERY sensitive which takes some getting used to, and the two-finger scroll experience feels a little 'sticky' on the pad, but its not an unpleasant experience.

I have not had much experience with the battery yet, but with a high definition screen, back lit keyboard, and the relatively slim design of the laptop case, I would bet closer to 5 hours of moderate use, and not 7.

Overall I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a machine that will perform the functions that 90% of normal people want from a personal laptop that will stay relevant for 4 to 5 years, but they don't want to take out a second mortgage. The graphics cards isnt a HUGE jump from the Intel HD 620 found on most PCs in this price range, but it will help you play some less demanding titles more fluidly. For the price, its hard to beat.

If you are looking for a high-end performance machine for gaming or heavy multimedia editing, as well as a touchscreen and 2 in 1 experience, you will need to shell out quite a bit more money and look elsewhere. This machine probably wont handle those functions and the limited hard drive space (256GB) will make storage difficult.

If you only really plan on surfing the internet, sending and reading emails and online news, as well as occasionally watching youtube or playing a game of Microsoft Solitaire, I would suggest looking elsewhere as those functions can be handled on a much cheaper budget - or potentially just investing in a library card.

Great Laptop

Pros: Start up time is super quick!
Speedy doesn’t really lag! Or struggle running anything can have multiple windows open at once doing multiple different things graphics look great! Can play almost any game I have and look really great! Absolutely love this laptop! Best one I have ever used!!

Cons: Umm not a lot from me! But screens does feel a little flimsy as not very sturdy!
Battery life isn’t great but works for several hours. But gets drained quick if you are watching like a movie!
And no way to attach a bigger battery!
Also no cd or dvd reader which is no big deal for me!!

Overall Review: Just a really great computer I mainly use it to surf the web and watch movies and play games and homework but handles all of that like a champ! Just all around solid computer and really worth the money!!

Had to return. Keyboard does scratch screen.

Pros: -Fast boot. Under 15 seconds.
-Quick load times for apps like Chrome or MS Office apps.
-Chrome or MS Office would open and load within 10 seconds of login.
-Quiet Fans. Never ever heard them run, even while playing Skyrim on low.
-Acer apps are somewhat useful.
-Battery lasted about 4.5 hours while taking notes during class. Full brightness was on.
-Only has 1, 8GB DIMM of RAM, so you have an open slot if you need to add more.

Cons: Reason I returned it: So, I read another review that mentioned the keyboard scratch problem, and I didn't think it was a big problem. Probably just a minor quality problem that wouldn't reproduce itself. Unfortunately, after only a week, I noticed a perfectly straight horizontal line that is caused by how the keyboards bottom lip touches the screen. The area around the touchpad is made of brushed metal, but the metal is rough and "scratchy" for lack of a better word. When you close the screen, the screen touched the area below the keyboard and the brushed metal will scratch the screen. Had this problem not happened, I would've kept the Laptop indefinitely.

Other Cons:
-Non removable battery. Or at least not easily removable.
-Tons of bloatware. Easily over 15 apps that were just bloatware junk.
-Touchpad buttons are really touchy. They worl sometime, and other times you really have to press to get them to work.
-Screen is not IPS nor 94% NTSC. What this means is that it has bad viewing angles. I noticed that even if I had the laptop on my desk in class, if I leaned forward or backwards to get more comfortable, the colors on the screen looked far off, and the screen looked dim. I had to keep moving the angle of the screen every time I moved.
-Weak processor. It is an i7, but it is the U series. This is intel low power chip, so if you need a long lasting battery, go for it, otherwise, steer clear. Although it has a high turbo boost, the laptop will heat up too quickly before it is able to hit the turbo boost speed. The fans only outlet air on the bottom, so the hot air collects below the laptop and you can't use the laptop to the full potential.
-Speakers are located on the bottom of the laptop. This makes the sound somewhat late and distorted. Although you shouldn't use a laptop on a bed, if you do, you probably won't hear much from the speakers simply due to their placement.
-Keyboard light turns off automatically. I couldn't find a way to make it stay on always, I only found a way to keep it off always.

Overall Review: If all you're doing is taking notes and browsing online, you shouldn't have any problems, other than the screen and keyboard scratch problems I had.

If you plan on doing anything intensive, such as even using Excel, Video software, or any gaming, prepare yourself to wait.

The GPU is really not a gaming GPU, it's most likely there just to load videos. I got a solid 12 FPS while playing Skyrim on Low, just to put it into perspective. I loaded up Runescape and went through their auto setup and their program set my graphics settings to low, and there was still lag while zooming and turning. Don't get this Laptop if you plan on doing any kind of gaming, online or steam games.

I also loaded up CAD. It was unable to do much of anything without extensive wait times for the GPU to render images.

I did not expect this Laptop to be able to do anything more than basic computer use, such as note taking and web browsing. I would only recommend this to people like my Mom who just goes on Facebook and looks up recipes, or my Grandma who sends emails to the grandkids. This would work for a college kid, but not if they are any type of gamer, engineer, or graphic designer. The laptop simple can't keep up with those tasks.

Off to college with it.

Pros: Our oldest son took this back to college after Christmas break. He says it works great and is quite an improvement over the old one he was trying to use for engineering classes. We think it's great.

Cons: The only better would have been a better sale price.

Overall Review: For a mid range price, this computer has great options and memory and speed.

Great Laptop

Pros: Good screen with Acer Bluelight shield.
Fast, quiet and runs very cool.
Expandable memory.
Good battery time

Cons: None

Overall Review: This laptop worked perfectly right out of the box and I've been using it for over a month. I got it because it was one of the first with the Intel 7th Gen processors and for the money it's a nice mid-range laptop.

Pretty good

Pros: -Nice brushed aluminum--feels very sturdy (as a whole and also when resting palms below the keyboard)
-Not too heavy for its size
-Pretty fast with the SSD & processor
-Good graphics
-Keyboard has good feedback; feels nice to type on
-Good number of ports available
-The coloring of the Fn command on the keys is kind of nice

Cons: -BEWARE: The bottom lip of the keyboard area will gouge a scratch across your screen. I noticed it shortly after arrival and it has been getting larger. Might want to place some sort of protective cover before closing the lid.
-Battery life NOT as advertised. It says 7 hours, which I believe it could do if left idle, but when doing fairly light work (5 internet tabs open and a programming IDE open) with the screen brightness almost at its lowest, it bumps down to about 3, maybe 3.5 hours in practice.
-The screen does this weird progressive dimming and rebrightening thing every now and again, even at the lowest brightness setting.
-Decent amount of bloatware, but I suppose that's most Windows computers
-Pretty bad sound quality from speakers, but I usually use headphones anyways (for which it is fine)
-The screen gets way too much glare

Overall Review: Pretty good laptop overall. Annoying nuances aside, I tried to return it over the crack so that I could replace it with a laptop with similar specs here on NewEgg (since I would have the same problem with a replaced same laptop). Buuut the convenient little Microsoft Office bundle right under the checkout prevented me from doing so.
